My guess would be buried in the shoulder. When we went out on our Kansas hunt a couple years back 1 guy got a deer another guy shot the year before and the broadhead was still in shoulder and scared over.

Dave.. I understand your thoughts on broadhead toughness.

The deer I mentioned was shot with a heavy arrow and 125 4 blade muzzy out of a 65lb compound at 13 yards. It can happen even with fixed blades.

Well, no deer sighted by me this evening. I’m okay with that. It’s better than having a big buck walk by and not be able to shoot it. Maybe not as exciting, but better.

Butchers find encased broadheads in deer every year. If it broke like that and he stumbled but did not bleed a lot that broadband may just be in his breast bone. I shot a doe a little too far forward. Hitting her upper leg. My God the blood!!! It was a solid 4 to 6 in wide solid path of blood for hundreds of yards. In the end I never found her. She showed up though months later short one leg. Made it through a few seasons with fawns before I assume someone shot her in gun season. I wish I still had the pics but cleaned up phone before getting new one Friday.

    Sure it can BHH.
I don't wanna muck up this thread.
It just paisses me off seeing/reading about all the animals being lost since mech heads showed up.

    OND, what breast bone?

Probably what would be the Sternum on a human. Since deer are quadrupedal instead bipedal, like humans, the thick bone on the bottom of the rib cage.

I don't want to even guess what I saw tonight, so I'll just say he is definitely a shooter. Came straight at me when I lightly rattled at him from about 130 yards. He turned too far out and stopped. Ranged him at 48 and he walked into the brush and out of my life. I know where you're bedding, pal. Looks like I might be sick in the morning.

One last thing Dave I'll say.

More archers equal more lost deer that you hear about.

Social media is good for that.

Back in the day we only new about what our buddies and family did while hunting. Then we read occasionally about it in magazines...

Like I said I understand your thoughts. Being pissed about it is your right as well.

But, like you said you didn't wanna muck up the thread....

Hope weather cools off so you can get some stand time in.

I couldn’t be live from the stand tonight because my son told me to put the phone up. So I did and didn’t touch it until we got home. No deer sightings for us tonight.

Buddy of mine texted me two times from southern VA today. First one basically said he hadn't seen any deer in two long sits and the weather was hot. A few hrs later he texts me saying a huge buck came running down the mountain at 3 does and how crazy it was....prime example. It's time to put in the time.
