Little buddy is figuring out why we hate squirrels. His face lights up when one busts through the leaves then pure disappointment
hurry up Fri. for vac. #2 ... the weather is going to suck warmth wise however .. make do with mother nature .. smh ..
I’ve been set up for about an hour. I moved to a spot where hopefully I will see does and not bucks. It seems kinda weird to say that.
Just had a lone deer skirt through think it was a small buck not legal in this wma Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I have a theory on what might explain Jim's arrow being broke and sticking in the ground. Arrow hits shoulder joint and the deer falls on it driving it in the ground and breaking the end off. Shoulder hair stuck in the shaft. I boned one like that several years ago and the broken end had long gray hair stuck in the carbon shards... Hope I'm wrong. I saw that deer days later chasing does.
Well guys, I don't know what else to do. We started tracking at the 6hr mark. We never found more than just specks of blood. Many times we were tracking just by what we thought were his footprints. We were right on that because eventually we would find another speck of blood. I really don't even know how two old guys who are well into our 60s were seeing it. We eventually ran out of tracks and specks of blood. We grid searched until dark and came up with nothing. I may go back tomorrow and grid search again after daylight but I'm not even positive I'll do that. My bil got on fb and searched out some people in the area that do blood trailing with dogs. One guy never answered, a young lady said she would love to do it but her husband wasn't home and she had no one to watch her kids. Another guy, who had already been on two other tracks today, said he would come and do it for $150 but he said he knew he wouldn't find it by the way we described the situation. I don't want someone like that who is negative at the outset. I don't know what else to do Sent from my SM-N975U1 using Tapatalk
Pretty sure something is getting chased in the thick stuff. Can hear bits and pieces of branches breaking/running but the farmer is discing the field and it’s super loud. Quite the sunset tonight! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
You could be right about that. My bil has the same theory. He did stumble a bit when I shot him but I don't remember him going down. But who knows, it all happened so fast. That arrow sticking out of the ground like that is really bizarre. Sent from my SM-N975U1 using Tapatalk
Jim, I would bet $1,000 that shot was not a lethal shot. All the evidence proves that out. I’m sorry this happened to you again…. Worst feeling in our sport. I believe he will be fine and hopefully give you another opportunity Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Thanks Tony for the encouragement but there's one thing that bothers me. Where's the broadhead end of that arrow? If it's in the deer, I think he will die. I don't know. I may go back tomorrow and try to search again. Sent from my SM-N975U1 using Tapatalk
Sorry for the loss Jim. I had a gutt feeling it was gonna turn out like that. This kinda stuff just keeps reinforcing my mentality as why the hell do people still shoot Mech heads?
