Ok! Will just the head work? Hes covered in maggots and really nasty. I was going to just tag the head and drag him to the creek. hahaha alot of glassing mixed in
Does head have to be attached? Im taking the body to a spot to use for coyote bait. See if i can make good use of it for some predator management. My 22-250 wants to sing. If i need to take my bow way out there i will cause im not dragging that nasty carcass to my truck haha.
I don’t understand the closure thing.. I feel both parties lost…. But it happens to EVERYONE…. The deer is dead with no meat … waste. Hunter put on miles and days in his honorable hunt for him to get a rack that every time he looks at it wil remind him how it took days to find him… I am speaking through experience.,, i guess the definition of closure in this scenario is “I no longer have hope he is alive” Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
The time you put into find him and Tagging him proves you are a true hunter .. sorry that happened bro… I know how it’s sucks even when you have “closure” Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
posting this w/o reading any posts past it- how the F that SOB made it that far is...words fail me. That's almost a perfect shot. You could not have missed heart by much more than a MM and certainly got liver and damn near all of at least one lung.
It would be better if the head were attached. It would be less of a headache for the decision makers.
@Shocker99 I think I speak for all of us, if you tagged him and take the correct pics, he scores for the contest. You earned him and burned your tag.
I hope you see this in time. If you didn’t bring your bow with you make sure you get pics with you and the buck to go along with head pics with you and the bow.
The only dead-head pics I’ve allowed were accompanied by pics of the hunter with the deer. I can justify that in my mind.
Shocker. Those maggots contain the once living protein of the deer you poured your sweat and tears into. You must boil and eat them for full closure and respect.
Yes closure for me is more knowing that he is not out there wounded or suffering. And not that you got the antlers. I went thru this last year and it took me 17 days of the worst feeling in bowhunting. I felt relieved to find him, but still feel sick to this day about how it all happened. In case you don't remember it took 17 days for my buck to die from a gut shot. I found him the day he died. Something just told me not to give up on him. Now you have a new word to add to your hate list "closure"!
Years past I know skull caps or head have been allowed and entered. Don't think there has ever been an official rule for entering such pics. The more pics the better for certain, both before and after, previous entries have been allowed with just the rack/hunter/bow. By no means arguing in either regard, just meant that you have the ultimate ruling and it is up to captains to raise the concern to change your mind in one way or the other.
