Holy crap just had a fisher chase some squirrels around. Came right to my tree and started climbing. Got the adrenaline going a bit! What a cool encounter.

Damn brother....sorry to hear. Never easy to experience, never mind it happening 3 times in a season....
Take a day or two to process it then the best thing to do is to hop back up in a tree.

Man, I’m sorry Shocker. All I can say is I know how you feel and while it does suck, you’ve got to put it behind you.

First evening here in the forest. It is so quiet and peaceful. I haven’t heard a single man-made sound since I’ve been here that didn’t come from my son or myself. No yapping dogs. No road noise. Nothing.

    God I love this.

Sorry to hear that Brandon. Nothing you can really say to make you feel better, just have to get back at it and put one down!

Resident here and non resident in NC. I'm not fully moved to NC and had to check with both states before buying tags. Next year it will inverse.

The highlight of my day was meeting Alex at the local food mart. Stoned Alex felt sorry for me that I bought a 12hr old cheeseburger and gave it to me for free.

Not sure how I missed this. Sorry to hear, but just don't get too down on yourself. I'd bet every single one of us has been there before. I know I have.

Ok guys and gals. Me and miss Sunny tried our best. I had my doubts with the rain we had and the dog. She proved me wrong from the get go. As soon as we hit POI she went nuts. I didnt have to do or say anything just watch her go. We had to run after her. She was on a dead run down the trail. The tracker was smiling at all the blood. He even said “ this one shouldnt take long”. I was so excited. I thought we had it in the bag. Once we got to the bed she sniffed it for a good 10 seconds or so and started pacing. She was still on scent but you could tell she needed to sort it out. Now mind you this is where me and my buddy lost blood and walked around a little bit. We may have escalated this confusion with our tromping. We never did find another spec of blood. The dog started really searching. He re-started her from that bed multiple times. She finally lit back up in a ditch out in the cornfield that was right in line with direction we thought he went out of his bed. That went into neighbors property and the dog then wanted to go to other neighbors property who wont let us track. I just can not believe how tough these things are. Why he left his bed i dont know but he must have had enough gas to make it where we cant go. In the middle of all of this fiasco a guy who hunts this property who i have never met came out of the woods and tried to be a tough guy. I didnt even know he was out there because he wants to be all secretive. After i asked him if we could talk like men instead of going down a road that wouldnt benefit either one of us we decided we could work together and exchanged numbers. Sorry i ruined your hunt dude. You park your truck where nobody can see it. I have the word out to people who hunt some surrounding properties. Its pretty much a carcass search at this point. The tough guy took this week off work to hunt this property so i told him since the meat wont be good anymore and coyotes or bobcats have probably gotten to him by now that i would wait to grid search till hes done with his rutcation. What a year. Oh well. Think ill take a little break and get my head right. Shoot my bow some even though it wasnt a bad shot. Get back in the sadldle. I love this stuff. Even the spirit crushing, humbling part of it makes us better. Good luck everybody still at it. Im not done this year i just need a little break. No my bow is not for sale cheap haha. Love this stuff even when i hate it.

I've hunted here for years and every time I've decided to only shoot bucks I see only does. Next time I'm only shooting does. Lol. Be back in Wednesday. Tomorrow is reserved for time with my kid.
