This has been the weirdest 4 days of almost completely calm winds I've ever hunted. Other than a VERY slight (and odd) SE wind a couple days ago, it's been dead. Woods are so quiet you can hear a falling leaf bang into a tree trunk at over 60 yards. Zero movement so far today. Giving it another 2 hrs then packing it in until Wisconsin on Friday unless I find place close to home to hunt. Fun fact- I have never killed a deer in October.
If they give you the knock out stuff that wears off fast you should be good to go! My first one, they gave me stuff that made me drowsy ALL day and mine was done at 6:30 AM. Next one, I was out for breakfast hour and a half after procedure start time.
gonna make for some long slow days, and when it happens it'll catch you off guard! These kind of temps and conditions will test your mental strength and composure on stand for sure. I remember my last Illinois rut hunt (2015), the first week of november was in the 70's the entire time. Slow...slow...slow...
I've had dogs encounters (wild, squirrel hunting, chasing deer)...yet to run into the dog owner - pisses me off!
It’s really good to see you eating healthy Joe! Edit: This is post #10,000. Only took me 12 1/2 years.
Checked cam, 4 pics only. 2 me putting in card and two of nothing....Will be going back out with...New batteries.. Little concerned that new cam had an empty file. This when Turkey had clearly been straight in front of it. Batteries new and I did a capture test and it's working. Well HAPPY HALLOWEEN GUYS. I hope to see a bunch of smiling faces over big deer, buck or doe. Never gotten a Hallween deer looks like that won't change, but I'll have two happy smiling faces at my door later and that will make my day.
Now a guy just walked right through my set up. Whistled. Didn't give a darn. Walked by at 20 yds. I parked my truck to let people know where I'd be. Small 75 acre spot. I am so done with idiots.
