I was in this certain swamp after a doe. She is part of a group of 4. She stands out because she a completely red coat, where all the others are Grey. There are only 2 trails that cross this swamp and guess what. They all just crossed on the north side, about 80 yards away. Dang! Still plenty of night left to see other deer and always a good chance at a buck here. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
Just heard a bow go off across the marsh about 150- 200 yards. Then heard bellowing from a deer. Someone got them self a deer! Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
I hung a stand midday in a light rain. Man did I sweat like a hog. I’ve always had a camera here and get tons of pics, including some cruising giants. Only hunted it a couple of times, on the ground. Now I have a deadly setup there for the rut, they won’t know what hit em. Gonna go hunt it now for the last couple hours, maybe get double-lucky Shoot straight boys and girls
Just heard racks above me, not sure if hunting camp next door. Though with new blind up there I don't think so. Winds in face from sound and decoy set in correct position let's hope.
That’s what I did but our gun season doesn’t open until the 19th Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Ugh! Another big doe on that same trail to the north. But with the amount of sign I have around me, I'm still confident! Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
Rain ended 5 hrs earlier than expected. Wasnt planning on hunting but here goes nothing On stand for the last 2hrs between bed and feed.
@FEB that's freaking awesome. Cool buck, cool story about your dad, and a wonderful memory. Way to go. I hope you finish the daily double. I went to Detroit River this morning and caught a limit of walleye. Now I am in a tree hoping to kill a big buck. It's the greatest time of the year!
Well I’m set up on the far back corner of a corn field that was cut this morning with a good wind. Fingers crossed.
As I sit here listening to the non stop barking of guys dog 2 doors down from us I almost feel bad for hunter between us. Every time the guy shows up the far nieghbors ties his dog out on the line. The hunter can't fart without getting g barked at. I say almost feel bad because same hunter caused me to fence our line thanks to his \getting caught by me running for our line in the pitch dark. Not knowing I was standing there watching him in the dark, well until I turned on my flash light and hahahaha he hit the dirt. OK I'll laugh about that until I can no longer laugh. Anyhow at least my solution was fairly passive. The dog....not so much.
Congrats FEB! I am sure your dad was watching it all play out! Great buck and cool story! I am up in about 70 degrees! I hate warm weather this time of year! Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
It's travel. The pic is a little less then a hundred yrds from my stand and sits between a deep gully and the other nieghbors swamp bedding the farm fields are above me the green field is not near any houses it's an old unused observatory he made and around 5 acres. I love this stand. Reliable 2 I call it built it years ago and maintain it yearly the tree is 3ft wide and the sun set directly behind it this time of year. I have never been busted and it sits facing a fairly steep incline.. Though this is a first year with Zero beech nuts so???? P.S. That seat is a cut log I nailed 2 pieces of wood to...10 years ago. Basswood last a long time.
Just had a 4 pt chasing a doe around. She wanted nothing of it. About 40 yards out. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
He’s definitely with ya man, I’m going through the same thing. It’s hard, he was the first person I talked to once I shot a deer.
