I would call this method 100% successful. It was so dry it ate like a chip, cracked and crunched on each bite. Tried a few pieces this morning and you would never know. Damn near the same texture as the 2nd batch I did not fall asleep during.
I just got busted by momma with 2 little ones … that hasn’t happened to me in forever… dammit Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums

I appreciate that brother! That is a great mentality to have moving forward into the venture you are about to experience. I find it very satisfying on public land when you apply your logic to the woods and see a deer. To me, that is a win even if you don't shoot. Your knowledge, your experience, your woodsmanship put you in the right spot for the encounter. It'll also let you appreciate each encounter that much more. Even though I grew up hunting the woods I hunt now, I knew nothing. I sat where I sat because I saw deer droppings. Important things I've learned the past 6 seasons of hitting public land heavy is: 1. There are no shortcuts 2. Every sighting/encountered is earned 3. The minute you let up it bites you in the a$$ 4. If you don't so your homework during the offseason you are missing major pieces of the puzzle (my current issue, my own fault). 5. Be as mobile as possible 6. Be prepared to make micro-adjustments to your setup once you are in the tree..meaning you might need to move in a tree 20-30 yards away if not, refer to #3 7. Be as mobile as possible 7.
