Heli-m still driving tacks for me. 3 inch rings on the target. I'm ready for next weekend. Sent from my SM-G990U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Parents arrived about an hour ago. My elk antlers are finally in my home. Just have to pick up a Skull Hooker and hang them at some point.
Pulled out the kit I got on sale end of season at Walmart. Was like $5 for all. I play the wind so this will only help so much. Sent from my SM-G990U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
These deer have specific oaks that they like. Watched a doe chomp under one for 15 minutes and then bee line it to another across the field. Wish I had a few more days to pick up on these certain trees. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
3 huntless Saturdays left. I am absolutely giddy about opening morning, I can work with litterally any wind direction except E to NE, southeast won't hurt North would be trickier. There is one caveat though. Not sure if I mentioned it previously, in the Spring when I checked the area for mushrooms a crap ton of trees were marked with various colors of paint that didn't make semse to me and there were wooden stake posts with orange flags on them scattered throughout. The friend at work who's family used to own the land said that they have been wanting to build a firestation there for the last 15 years. I have seen it marked up before but they didn't do anything. He said that there was a clause in the donation of the land that it could not be developed. Eventually thet will get it done, being the Govt is the one seeking it, just hope this year isn't the year. That would throw a huge wrench in it. If it is still unscathed I put my opening morning success rate at 85%. I've killed on my first sit before, but never on opening day.
Picked up a little kitten 3 weeks ago. Camp cat. He's a terror on 4 legs. Follows me around. If I sit down, he's in my lap. Want/need him to help keep the mice/squirrels down. He loves it under the cabin. Sleeps on the wood pile. Cute little bugger. Reminiscing here. I've shot alot of bear on sept 3rd. First time in 35ish years I'm not in bear camp.
Soooo..... Since I no longer have private property to hunt, do I ditch the boonie for a new one or is the luck transferrable?
So keep the same one? I don't remember what year you started it, simple search for "Boonie hunters Unite" would tell me though, oretty sure that's what it was titled. You are the innovator so your rules
Just went back to 2015 contest, couldn't remember the buck I shot that year. Was on Team 6 with @virginiashadow and @Tony that year. Came upon the post @Fitz made to out team about dthbyhoyt's untimely passing on an out of state hunt. What a somber moment it was with never having met him. Let's make this the year of remembrance for all of the members that have left this life. Most notable as of recent @GregH and @SharpEyeSam. I hunt in your honor this season
The plan worked but a wrench was thrown into it. Got out of his bed and was coming in on a string to the oaks. He Saw a 125” 8 and a smaller 100” almost to the oaks and stopped. They looked at each other for a minute and he turned around and ran down the draw. Buddy isn’t sure what happened or why he ran like he did. I got busted by a doe somehow. Wind blowing NW and she came from the east. Must have been swirling or something. Stomped about 30 times, blew what felt like 86 times and took off right at prime time. We go again tomorrow. Last full day. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I'm up, dressed, and will head out at about 5:15. The rain has stopped for while so I should be able to get a decent sit in at the new spot.
Been set up for about 15 minutes. Heard a deer splashing down the creek. Then an owl let loose about 20 feet away. Gave me a good jolt.
