I just got off the phone with Josh. Tomorrow is day one of a two day youth gun season here in Missouri and he is going to take my 6 year old grandson Zach out.

He asked Zach what he was going to do tomorrow and Zach said he was going to make a big buck do the “Crappie Flop”.

I have no idea where he got that from, but I like it and I think I’ll start using it.

Thought I’d join everyone for my first tree sit of the year. Whitetail, bear, turkey, and cougar tag in my pocket, all are open right now. Good luck everyone!

I'm home. A little buck came in to about 45-55 yards nose to the ground didn't stop for anything. That's all I saw.

Tomorrow morning is the last morning in the 30s projected over at least the next ten days here. Awesome. Not.

It is not pretty, but it was free and only took 20 minutes to make. Built a deck system for the back of my Jeep. Hopefully, be a little more organized when I hit the road MO in a little over a week.

Little mad at my self because no pics. Had the phone but in my rush to....get away from A.J. I dropped it in my front pocket then put my harness on. Well by the time I realized this I was in the tree. A stand that faces the sanctuary. This is a killer stand with correct wind, but NO moving allowed until they hit mid woods. This brings them out of line of sight and they literally stand on the edge scanning our place a long time before entering. 3:30 I had a huge coyote come in from the gully and walk behind me. I turned slowly for a off hand shot but at 15 yards. he walked right into my scent trail. You'd think He'd hit a hot wire the way he spun. Then I watched a flock of 7 Turkey walk past the gypsy blind then down into the gully and up over the ridge behind me at 200 yrds. Didn't they follow the ridge trail toward me and just at Sun down few up into trees 100 yards behind me. The pic would have been priceless ,them in the trees with the prettiest Sun set behind them I've seen in many a years.
Not a single deer heard or seen and a great afternoon hunt.

    P.S.
A.J. he looses his mind when he sees me touch anything camo. If not trying to tear my clothes off or stealing my boots, playing get away,he is "coon hound" barking at me.

I will be on stand in the morning. Found a good buck cruising spot last year. Going to try it out, might be a little early though.

Also looks like we got a buck down on team 15, no details yet.

You were a little disorganized last time you showed up at camp Adam.

Seriously, that was a good idea.

Looking forward to seeing you there again. :tu:

Simple and functional, that's all you need. I do that all the time with free stuff. My wife loves all the crap I keep! Haha

I keep telling myself to go to the spot where all those nasty hitchhiker things attach all over your clothes. North wind and I know the other hunters will be on the north side of the thicket bc of the nastiness of the southern half of thicket. Prob push deer to me plus the southern half with that wind is the right place to be. Might wear blue jeans and a throw down jacket in to set up then change at the stand. Lol!

Hey the same reason your hesitant to go in there, I'm sure most others are the same. Probably worth a shot. Have you hunted there in the morning yet?

Maybe get a cheap mechanic Jump suit or coveralls? Then could take off at base of tree.

Had a fork follow the script… had a clean broadside shot at 30yards…a few more seconds he’d be at 20 yards…nope he cuts straight towards my stand.. walks under my stand makes a scrape and I have no shooting lane there. I’m not gonna force a head on shot, just won’t do it. Should have taken the shot at 30 yards

looks like one you'd buy at a store! lol

That is where I almost shot that decent buck a month ago in the morning. Close to the same wind.
