Only thing mid day crusin is me. The wind is all over the place. Getting down and check some spots on the way out. Regroup for the evening hunt.
Nice work LC. Gonna start sheathing the roof now. Wanna have that done by this time tomorrow then it's 18 days of straight up "Ruttcation"
What brand are you getting Clint. Cause I need 1 and I’m only looking to spend about half of retail cost.
Well guys I'm done taking care of my OCD issues. Today is last warm day 69°and a light breeze. I finished up all trails for the last time. I got home stripped down then brush my hair over toilet. So much fell out I raked my head with a comb and 3 adult ticks joined a bunch of nits(?). WTH, I sprayed my head with so much deet 40% it's ridiculous and still..... But now trails will be not only quiet but tick free . I can relax and actually hunt. This also let me find more rubs and 2 broke licking branches with scrapes under them. Giving me a better idea for best stands to hunt in a day or 2. Now I have one more job to get done and rain arrives around 2 today to clean up my scent and tamp down leaf cover along trails I just cleaned. Then the temps drop off. My hunting starts in the morning in earnest.
If the ticks were that bad in my woods, I'd seriously consider burning it all down. Twice. Good luck hunting.
Alright, alright. Headed out for my first sit of the year. 99% chance I won't be LFTS. The wind direction should be great where I plan to sit. Blowing in my face, across a logging road into a recent cutover.
Nope. I only get sick of it when I get a double or a triple, but after a few days I'm ready to do it again.
Don't do it! How many deer you plan to haul out the woods? Also if your hunting public, check regulations. Here on most public they are illegal. Can't take motorized vehicles on the land. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
She's all cut up and in the refrigerator. I had to fight yellowjackets the entire time I was skinning and cutting. The were insanely bad and they were hungry little buggers. I didn't get stung, so that's a plus. All I have left to do now is dispose of what's left. That's it for me hunting until we get to our camp in Mark Twain National Forest. That'll be Monday. Four whole days without hunting. I'm not sure I'll be able to handle it.
Hunted til 1030 then drove to a federal wildlife place. Showed up and was happy to find just one entrance spot with a locked gate...miles of land. Walked for a couple hrs. Pleasantly surprised....
It's all over in this area..Doc told me he had a woman angler that was trout fishing in spring...she came in and had, mind you imbedded,20 ticks along her lower back and butt. That freaked even him.out...
You're right. Definitely check the regulations where you hunt before spending the money on one. On private land it's the best thing in the world. In Mark Twain National Forest it's illegal to ride them off of a designated road, but it still beats an ATV, UTV or a Truck. I use it there to ride in quietly on the forest roads and then I walk it into the woods a ways and stash it. It's much more stealthy and it can be hidden so it doesn't spook deer. Now at Wattensaw WMA I could ride it right to my stand if I wanted to. We checked with the wardens and there are no regulations against them. Yet. Riding through the woods would be kinda stupid though. Riding it in the woods is WAY louder than walking and it's tough enough to walk through the woods in the dark and not get clotheslined. I can't imagine trying to ride a bike through the woods. You'd get knocked off the bike by tree limbs.
