    USE A SAFE LINE!

I love using hang on tree stands, I am 48, have no fear of heights, and I hunt a lot. Safe lines were not a thing when I was younger. I few years ago I bought a few 3-pack of Safe Lines. The awesome thing about safe lines is you clip into them on the ground, slide the knot up as you climb, and stay clipped in while you're on stand. I realize at some point, there is a good chance I eventually will have some sort of falling accident. I have the Muddy harness - which is much nicer and less expensive than the first harness I had. It is not easy to get used to using a harness and rope. The 3-packs are priced low enough that I cannot make them myself at that price. I have a bunch of stands, so this is an expensive transition for me, but I find myself liking being clipped in all the time comforting.

ALL OF US SHOULD BE UTILIZING SAFETY EQUIPMENT! I don't want any of you getting badly hurt from a fall.

This concludes this Public Safety Announcement.

Great reminder Todd! I'm sure Jake is attached from the ground up, but I understand what he is talking about.

In a saddle there is constant tension on the tether so one always has a sense of security. While using a traditional harness one does not have the tension of the tether while standing up, which makes the hunter have to rely on his/her/their balance. I am pretty shaky, okay, scared sh!tless, with heights while using a hang on or climber, but yet in a saddle with having the constant tension, heights are not an issue.

    Hey guys
Congrats on all that have had some great kills.
I have not been out and will be headed to Drs. here in a little bit.
So ticks got me, I didn't realize in the middle of the night and ended up doing everything your NOT suppose to do. Half awake thinking it was a skin tag. I have had zero tick issues all summer. Spray down pants always tucked etc, etc.
So ended up with head still in there but swelling and red went down. Then ate dinner last night pork loin, half hour later broke out in a sweat, then severe stomach cramps and all heck broke loose. Now I have a low grade temp and dull.head ache. Called doc and he's getting me right in.
Guys I spay down like crazy before leaving house highest deet. The can sits on porch rail as we leave the house. After the embedded one I went out sprayed to hilt and still came home to ticks all over me. Peeling off all close each time I came home and putting directly into wash then showering. Washing hair 3x's and combing several out of my wet hair.
Be careful out there and wish me luck...

That's what I said last night and the reference to needing my head examined. I'm a full fledged train wreck.

Sorry to hear that OND. I had one in the spring and tested positive for Lyme. 3 rounds of antibiotics and I’m good now. I hope they prescribe antibiotics for you. It’s not worth the risk on waiting for test results to come back.

Damn OND, I hope they take care of you and get you on a blast dosage of Doxycycline!

Permethrin is what you want to use for repelling tics. I used to lay on the forest floor in the prone position for hours at a time and never heave a tic problem as long as my clothes were treated with it. buy the concentrated bottle and mix it yourself. It will last a lifetime.

Ok boys, I'm getting down. Gotta go cut some trees that have fallen over my entry path. It's the third time this year. I brought my chainsaw and left it on the trail where I walked in. Hopefully I get back out this afternoon.
