Some times it's a lot simpler then we make it! Haha. My guess is he beds about 50 yards from the edge. They do like to hear and see the edge to watch for danger. If it's a South wind he beds in there on, then my guess is he walks the entire section and beds close to north side. That way he has the wind to the south and he can watch north. Then can see if anyone comes in from the road. Might be worth to hunt closer to road just off his path thru that section. Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
Not sure if I'll be out tonight or not winds are psychotic today. I had Togo to garden and pull the rest of the butternut, checked broccoli recovered the hot peppers ...blah,blah,blah. While out I decided to check lower field where I spooked the deer...It is literally piled up with massive deer pellets every 3-4 ', fresh and old. I also checked the new cam I put out on the 14th....GREAT clear day and night pics.unfortunately only me setting up 2 with moving tree branches and 2 of a raccoon grubbing. Help me guys... Every single year I leaf blow about two miles of trails around about now. I am OCD about making noise walking in. I mean really bad. This morning did not help. I said I was going to not clear trails and see how things go...not so good thus far...clear mid day or not? It needs to happen in next few days if I do. What do you think? mind you I am surrounded by bow/gun hunters and spooked deer cross lines. I am the only one that does this,so all others are out there crunching through the woods around us when I'm able to get silent.
I'm sure going to try to. That buck showing up behind me was a real surprise this morning and he had me tied in knots. Probably why I derailed my bow. I guess he had my bow tied in knots too.
He texted me a receipt and I told him that if I kill one of the bucks while I'm here I'd text him a pic.
Sitting here thinking to myself I can sit here in the camper for a couple of hours and then get on stand or I can just change and go spend those two hours relocating my stand and hunting. I think I'm gonna change and get back out there. Might as well be out there instead of in here.
im debating going out tonight after a few days off, but the wind isnt the best and nothing for daytime activity except for smaller bucks. Tomorrows wind is looking a lot better but that could also change.
Huge cold front pushed in. Was 80 yesterday. High if 59 today and low of 34 tonight. Needless to say loading the truck and heading to the woods. Hopefully I will have service to update you guys throughout the evening hunt Sent from my SM-G990U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
I grew up hunting in mature open woods. We never cleared trails of debris. Unless you're super loud, it seems like deer can see farther than they could hear. They are used to hearing creatures walk around the woods. Do you bump many deer out when you are clearing the trails?
All set up for what will be a 4 hour, 55 minute sit unless I kill one before dark. Needless to say, does are not targets this sit.
Oh, and I did find my arrow that I had nocked when my bow derailed. Don’t know how I missed it earlier. It was almost at the base of the tree
I’m here. Just need him to show up. I moved 25 yards SW. If they do what they did yesterday and don’t wind me they’ll be between 20 and 30 yards. If the wind would stay steady out of the NW I’ve got a real chance.
All saddled up for the evening. Hoping for the best. Good luck fellas !!!! Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Good luck erbody. Dammit, I wish I were in a tree stand right now. I really need to re-evaluate my life choices. Sort of kidding obviously.
This is where they were feeding on white oak acorns yesterday evening. This tree leans that way so I’m facing away from where they should come from. I’ll be spending a lot of time standing up peeking around the tree.
