Use a ratched strap and hook to your cams. slow go one click at a time til you can put on your string. Then slowly let strap down one click at a time and check to make sure all strings are lined up while you do that. It works for me in a pinch.
Last year, I dropped my bow climbing out of a tree, knocked the sight loose and spent the next morning fixing it. Went back out that afternoon and killed a doe in the same spot. But, that would be even cooler if it comes together.
LC! Nooooo! That sucks man. I bet you’ll never leave your backup bow at home again haha. Hope you get back up and running soon
5 years ago or so I stepped on my string getting off my treestand and derailed it. Took it in the next morning and while I was in the bow shop my buddy is texting me,"there are bucks running crazy" and then " I shot a monster!" (Which he really did). Get my bow working again and it is shooting well so I hit the woods. Get set up and within 20 minutes a great buck comes by at 25 yards and I shoot right under it. I wanted to break my bow in half! Lol
While we're on it. Can't remember if it was my first season or 2nd picking deer hunting back up. Got done hunting for the day amd was going to go out the next morning as conditions were perfect. Stopped by a friends house to have a few beers and took my bow inside, because I don't trust people. He wanted to see it so I took it out and drew it back with fingers. I went to let down and it just slacked up, heard tink tink as the peep sight bounced on the floor and string dampers fell out. I freaked out not knowing what happened. Well, I had wrapped my release onto the string so I wouldn't forget it. It slid down into the lower cam and locked it up. Got it into the shop the next morning and he stopped what he was doing and fixed it right then. Barely had to make ant adjustments to the site. Needless to say, release does not get put on the string any longer
I’m back up and running. New string silencers and a freshly waxed string to boot. I bought a pretty cool release from him just for being there for me. I needed a good back-up release anyway.
“Siri (Alexa, ok google) find me the nearest archery shop near…” Meh…too late, that’s what I get for catching up at lunch time…
Yea id definitely try to close that gap. Any other deer seen on the same route the buck was on? If so thats a definite must move in. Assuming you have good wind
I got rid of my old bow when i broke my shoulder. It hurt so bad i thought id never bowhunt again. After a couple years my buddy talked me into a crossbow. Did that for a few years and didnt care much for it but it got me back in the woods. I spent those few years rehabilitating my shoulder and i walked into a shop drew and elite e32 and bought it same day. I sold my cross bow and said good riddance but then i dropped my bow out of a tree and thought you big dummy that would have still kept you in the woods.
Yes saw two smaller bucks using it too, the wind is W and SW basically everyday till 22nd. So I will be good setting up like that. Thanks for the input !
What was the wind when he walked under you? Any chance he crossed your entrance or went down wind of you or your entrance path? Sent from my SM-S901U using Tapatalk
It was SW wind, nope never crossed my path, he could have potentially got down wind depending on where he ended up back in that thicket. My wind was blowing to the NW corner of the corn field to the right of my setup, so I don’t think it’s likely.
Yeah, that wasn't gonna work I don't think. It took both of us to put that V3 back together because he didn't have enough hands.
I’m over analyzing non stop, he was huge and want to put some effort into him. The wind wasn’t ideal last trip to get aggressive on em.
That was entertaining. I figure most bows are the basically the same but I don't think this guy had seen many Mathews V3 bows. He studied and studied, but he finally reasoned it out and after inspecting the limbs, cams, string and cables he got to work. It took about a half hour and like I said, I had to hold the cable ends on while he got the string back on the cam. He let the pressure off the press and everything settled in nicely. I went out to test shoot it. I grabbed two practice arrows out of the truck and shot at a Glen Del buck target at 20 yards. Perfect shot. I nocked my second arrow and I said kind of jokingly "Now we'll see if it's accurate". I took careful aim at my arrow and promptly busted the nock off the first arrow. I just looked at him and said, "I think I'm good". Then I test shot the new release that I ended up buying, a Spot Hogg Wiseguy BOA. I'm impressed by it. He's just a guy running his shop out in the middle of no-where so I knew if he had something I could use I'd buy it. We did a lot of talking and when it was all over I only paid for the release and the new silencers. He didn't charge me anything for fixing the bow. He's a really good guy. His name is Dave Wilson and the shop is Wilson's Archery in Wingo, Kentucky.
