Any suggestions? Yellow is standing corn, orange is CRP (that’s where the buck came from in the am) white is the bedding, it’s open on the edges but thick in center. There’s also a overgrown power line through it. Red dot is the buck and yellow stand is where I saw him and where he was heading. Blue is my access route, I park and walk down the road for less disturbance.
I’m looking at a tree that I climbed when I first hunted here about four years ago. It’s 22 yards away and would put me about 30 yards from where they traveled. The other trail is about 10 yards on this side of it. If the wind stays the same it’ll be blowing right up that trail. There’s no way to hunt them both with a NW wind so I’m going to gamble on them doing the same thing this afternoon.
Just shot a doe abt 5 minutes ago. Slightly quartered away arrow zipped through both shoulders. She’s been moving a bit over there abt 40 yards away.
Bruh.....stop hogging the sh!t stick!!!! LOL! Hang in there brother..Hypothermia is temporary, pride is forever! But seriously, good luck and stay frosty!
It looks like you are in a good spot. From what I can see, you have possible bedding in the woods to the north and south of the CRP. At this time of the year a buck may travel the tree line going from one wooded area to the other. Hope you get a chance at a buck.
My only problem is it was still too dark to shoot, I was considering pushing back into the bedding hoping to catch up with him a little later.
After talking with my buddy about everything he was thinking i might have shot a nice 3 year old we decided to pass. I told him i was 99% sure it wasnt and he was bigger than this guy. One more step and i could have confirmed haha. He had me second guessing and really going to be bummed if i shot a deer we decided to pass. Hes looking pretty good from what i can see here though. Hope i can get more pics to confirm.
Good luck this morning. I have been telling myself for years that I would call in sick and hunt on a good October cold front. Today would have been perfect, it is 35 right now with a high of 50. Unfortunately, I have had to call in sick 4 times in the last three weeks to keep sick kids home from school. So here I sit in my office. On behalf of all of us stuck in the grind of reality, WE WANT BLOOD TRAILS!
So no pics I turned off all sound on phone and put it on the counter near door, then walked out without it. Holy crud it is cold out there! My plan may have worked had I not spooked what sounded like several on the way in and got snorted at as I walked the main road down the hill. The phone wasn't the only thing I forgot. 30's, a metal ladderstand with metal mesh seat ,windy and no seat pad. Geez Louis!...lol Heard some turkey but they never made it my way ,chippers, squirrel and crow. Hoping that's the last of my rookie, dang I forgot this that and the other thing, for the season. Pretty sure my butt cheeks will take hours to warm.up....lol
This time of year I hope to get them going back to bed as well as scent checking. They may get back to bed before it is light, but hopefully they get up and do some scent checking.
NOOOO! What a disaster. Had a great 10 point behind me in the field at 20. Came to full draw but he stopped and turned a bit eating corn. I went to let down and my string derailed. It wasn’t a good sound. He bounced out to about 35 yards, stood there for a few minutes and then went back to eating. He just now went into the woods to my south. Now what the hell am I going to do? My back-up bow is at home. I won’t type all the words I’m thinking right now.
What a nightmare. If your string isn't damaged, is there a bow shop anywhere near you that can get it in a press?
