I'm planning on being at my cabin from about Oct 28 through Nov 15th. When I'm there hunting, I have a smudge fire going in a 55 gallon barrel,, just a ritual I keep.. . today I'm gonna cut a bunch of dead boxelder trees.. They have a weird funk but its a woodsy smell and the local does seem to dig it..
Got enough piled for this season. Once going, I put the lid on so it just barely smokes. Even punky boxelder last a while that way. Looks like a storm is moving in. I hear thunder. Need rain badly. Nice cool breeze. Nap time
It’s going to have to be a brute to get me to shoot, but at least I have a reason to be in the woods and glass the field.
2 bucks 50 yards, hard to tell with the thick cover. One looks like the off spring of that funky buck I shot 2 years ago
No luck, finally tally: 6 bucks, if of shot all of them in the regular season. Was staking one with a big gut but couldn’t get good glass on him. Looked a little older by the body than the others. 12 doe/fawn mix. Not a bad sit, way too humid, but I got some good intel.
Boys it’s been way to many years since I posted on here. Still remember the names of some of y’all tho. Deer hunting starts this weekend here in ky but we goin fishing instead. Work has kept me so busy that I’ve not even shot my bow yet this year. No cameras goin no corn out and all I see in the future is work Did get a couple of platforms built just in case I do decide to go tho. But best of luck to y’all and lay some bruisers down
Good to hear from you again. Stick around for a while. Hey, the contest is up and running and we need a few folks to sign up.
I'm a little behind the power curve on getting my gear ready to leave for Kentucky on Friday. I know my bow is on and ready. All of my hunting clothing is in the wash now. I still need to treat it all with permethrin. Then I just need to buy some groceries, load and hook up the travel trailer. Seeing all of the buck pics on my place kind of lit a small fire under me.
I feel completely unprepared for my North Dakota trip. My first out of state hunt and it is kind of overwhelming. Leave in 2 days but just have to remind myself there really isn’t a lot too it. Just seems like it right now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I feel the same way. Other than spraying a lot of gear with permethrin and waiting for it to dry there is nothing that I couldn't do in a half day, but I feel like I have a ton of stuff to do.
