Well, finally got done catching up since noon last Thursday.

Hopefully, I can get out fro my first sit on Saturday afternoon. That is iffy due to having to work.

Can't wait for next year! Will be retired and then watch out deer!

If you choose option one, I am sure there are plenty of guys around here who would be happy to help you out in their home states. Me being one of them.

I actually haven't been going out other than Saturday. Son came out late yesterday and hunted across from the New hang on in an old ladderstand set. Two deer started in but swirling winds had them turn and high tail it out.
One reason I'd decided to stay out then today was rain . I did not feel like getting soaked walking to a blind. Winds and rain = danger walking in the dark, falling leaves and rain noise makes hearing snaps too difficult to detect. If you've ever been pile driven by a small branch, well you know my fear.
I have no idea why this typed bold dang devise.
So fields cut, nothing , not one animal and I checked for eyes at night, have been in there. Not even Turkey.
I have left nearly half our place alone all summer, have not even checked stands no movement by humans. The area I shot a doe during gun. I will have to take a slow late morning walk through this week, to check and hunt. I have zero knowledge of what storms have done in that area. I just need the winds to switch so I'm not sending my scent ahead of me.

Part of the fun is the "suck" isn't it?

I vote do all options if you can.

become a legend known to none.......

Too late, you're a legend on this forum already, lol. At least you got that going for you.

Out of state solo hunt would be worth a shot. As stated above not too much investment other than tags. Decent sized cooler would fit a deboned deer or 2. Small folding table for processing deer on, etc.

This is not to be mean, just a outside observation. You keep doing the same thing on the same property and getting the same results. Yes you will shoot a deer there once and awhile. You need to leave the sentimental woods and find new land to go to. Look at every possibility within a hour of home base. Just hunt everything. Go back to your old stomping grounds for just 1 or 2 sits on prime days. Break the cycle and explore.

As my invite from years ago still stands. If your do come down to MD, I will take the time off and go with you. Also a standing invite.

I'd love to do a G2G hunt like we talked about a few years ago! OH is about 10-14 hours depending on which side of the state.

I appreciate it Jim! I can't remember where in IN you live/hunt, but Ft. Wayne is 16 hours from me, something to truly consider!

I love this idea, I truly do! I think this is the way.

The woods I hunt is good for the rut (my deep spot that is) and wasting time any other time of the season. I NEED to let the attachment go and save it for the rut......

Bruh, @tynimiller said it best, my like/post ratio is legendary in itself!! LOL!

I do need electricity wherever I sleep though, I have Obstructive Sleep Apnea from my stroke and it is sever enough I "could" die from it without my CPAP.

you are 100% spot on Holt. I keep doing the same thing over and over. Hell, If I were in a session and a client kept doing the same destructive behavior over and over, I'd point it out to them. They want to change, yet they are not changing, and the same result is happening over and over.
    Break the cycle......

    Thanks y'all.....

Yeah, I have one of those CPAP machines as well. Mine is not as serious though. Don't sleep as well with out it. Other than my wife may kill me from snoring, lol

Get a small generator for the CPAP and phone charger and you are good to go anywhere Joe!!! I think I mentioned it to you back when I was hunting there, but Northern NJ has a good deer population, long season, reasonable tag, and plenty of public land and if I recall correctly not a terribly long drive for you for a weekend of hunting! If you want to look into it more let me know, there’s even a camp ground I used to stay at that you can rent cabins for reasonable!

That is what I was thinking a few years ago and is definitely worth a revisit. If memory serves, it is only a 4-5 hour drive depending on traffic and the time of day I leave. Deer population is vital and a big part of my struggles here in New England. I can't kill what is not there.

I'm out in a wind storm. It's howling. The woods are opening up more the leaves a flying off the trees. That cold front is coming in now. Could be good in the am.

But I'm out!!!! And I'll be out tomorrow morning also

Had big plans to hunt a bedded buck. Come in good and get a thousand hitchhikers on my pants. No problem. Slowly move in..this place flooded a bit so there is shin high water from time to time. Last 40 yds from where I wanted to set up I slipped in the water and took a wide step...up to my crotch in water and boots filled. Sounded like a chainsaw. No way that buck stayed in that bed. So I circled around and set up on a potential deer travel route. I hope these pants dry before it gets into the upper 30s in 3 hrs. Contemplated leaving but said the hell with it...I have a punchers chance! Conditions are too good to not give this a go.

Got a text about an hour ago from my dad. 8 years of playing the point game paid off for him with a fantastic moose.

I’m all set up. The wind finally shifted and I’m at the “dirt bike stand”. I’m actually 63 yards from the tree I usually climb but the wind doesn’t work for that tree. It’s iffy for this one.

The only climbable tree I could find was a Hackberry, a climbing stand hunter’s nightmare. Also, I am only about 13 feet off the ground but I have good cover.

There is a heavily used trail going to the pond. If a deer walks that trail and doesn’t wind me it’s in trouble.

I’ll give this spot two sits and see what moves or doesn’t move. Does are fair game too. At least one more is anyway.
