I'm in. Bumped one doe walking in. She just bound off slowly didn't blow. Land owner was up here clearing some dead fall. Might change the direction of the deer.
Well guys, for what it's worth, I'm out here. We have rain, 42° and a pretty stiff wind. Since it's raining, I opted for the ground blind. I hope just to see something. Good luck to anyone else who is out. Sent from my SM-N975U1 using Tapatalk
Just had two does at 30yds. Apparently they don't mind the nasty weather as much as I. Sent from my SM-N975U1 using Tapatalk
Well the does, turned out there were three, moved off to about 60yds amd fed around for about 6 or 7 minutes. Then I felt a little wind swirl and they must have caught it. They left the building pretty quickly. Sent from my SM-N975U1 using Tapatalk
It’s 40 minutes after first light and I just got set up. This was intentional though. I needed some rest and I’m back at the T woods where I haven’t seen a deer until after 8:30. Muzzleloader is done and I’m back out with my bow.
I really don’t expect to see anything here after the way I stomped it up looking for the doe yesterday morning, but the deer need water and I’m watching the only source around.
Check out Merrel MOAB boots, I've only had them for a couple months, but they are comfortable, and I got the waterproof ones, and was able to cross the creek, and they held water out until it got up above my ankle. They are not cold weather, but in 30 degrees, with insulated socks, my feet weren't cold, and were not sweating.
Don't get hung up a "hunting brand." You can often get a better value boot with a brand like Columbia that markets more for hiking. Primary hunting boot: https://www.basspro.com/shop/en/columbia-crestwood-mid-waterproof-hiking-boots-for-men Daily wear shoe: https://www.academy.com/p/columbia-sportswear-mens-hatana-breathe-shoes?sku=green-orange-9-5-d I replace these once a year. I wear them almost every day for 12+ hours. I have a cheap pair of rubber boots that I wear when I need to go through water deeper than what the boots can handle.
Good luck guys. I took the day off to keep looking. My confidence is low but i need to make sure. Im going to hang a couple cameras. Wonder if academy or rural king has any cell cams? I spoke to a guy with a dog from blood trackers and his confidence is low on it being a fatal hit. If it does kill him might take awhile. Never know though. Plan is 1. call tracker back and update him again see if he thinks we are wasting time and money. I have no problem paying. 2. If dog option doesnt happen i will try to track best i can. I have peroxide and orange tape ready to go. 3. Hang a couple cell cams. If i dont find him hopefully ill get some pics of him . 4. if all of that fails i lick my wounds and get back in the saddle. I should have held lower on him since i alerted him.
Good luck man. I hope you find him but if you don't, you will have put all the effort into it you could Sent from my SM-N975U1 using Tapatalk
Thanks. I thought about hanging another stand down in the bottoms and doing an observation sit with the intention of only releasing an arrow if i saw him but i didnt want the temptation if something else nice came by. This vacation day belongs to this buck only. Haha. Someone wise told me in life you have to master recognizing temptation and eliminate it before it can present itself.
