I’m up, I didn’t go too far in but I’m into where I can see 3 different fields, standing corn, crp and beans. Bedding behind me and it’s raining oaks. Windy as hell, I’m ready to kill critters.
Dude.. you’re killing regardless… it’s what you are… do it Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums

I'm sorry not answering the phone and definitely not returning calls. If it is an emergency...well I have a hubby that can be called. WTH I know what's coming and no,no,no what part of leave me alone during hunting season do people not understand? Now let's talk weather...winds.. Main page showing zero winds looked out window and it looks like a hurricane out there and lights are flickering today. Main page winds suppose to be SSE. go to hourly and written description 10-20WSW scroll down each hour SSE , S, S, SE, ,SE, I look out window and rains pounding west and north facing Windows. I can't stand it!!!!! The morning walk in should be great, wet and quiet. Walk to where...I'll see what hits my face at the road....
I’m finally down and out of there without getting blown at. Good grief. That was a herd of does. The only bucks I saw were a spike and a fork horn. I had around 10 chances to shoot a doe if I’d wanted to. That was exhilarating.
See there? I do have some self control after all. I'll admit though, a few of the under 10 yard quartering away shots were tempting. I really didn't want to booger the place up recovering a doe at night. The patch of woods is maybe 4 acres. I'd run everything out of there. One of the "could have shot" does spotted my ebike. The bike was 50 yards away lying in a depression. She was 25 yards away from me when she spotted it, right in between me and the bike. She stomped and carried on for 5 minutes with me 25 yards away really tempted to shoot. That would have been a slam dunk. If any does show up in the morning then I'll shoot.
Nothin else. Stuff in the woods but just too dark to see. Very impressed with this First Lite in cold. Felt like 29 with a 10-15 NW wind and I got the chills just a few times. Have furnace base layers and catalyst pants only. Little thicker up too, but still awesome. Time to figure out a plan for tomorrow. Likely off Saturday and Sunday. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Soooooooo..... more to this tonight. About 4:15 he texts me a video, to which I can say was only slightly worse than bigfoot documentation. Could see a brown pixelated blob that was obviously a deer, clear sound of rustling leaves and a bit of white ssying it was a buck. Text back chitty video, and never heard back. About 6:45 my phone starts ringing and it's him. I know he shot something and I'm not in the mood to go track and drag when I want to hunt tomorrow morning, answer anyway. First thing he asks is what I thought of the video, told him it was too compressed only a blob walking through leaves. Said he'd send me a screenshot. Then he says, and I quote "I just shot a cow". If you knew this guy you'd understand, was just about to call him a dumbass when he said that 3 does came across the creek and he shot the lead one through the oven and she took back off across the creek. Luckily it isn't the big creek but a swampy ditch area that is holding water with the recent rain. Said he found blood but it was getting dark and he didn't want to get lost, so he put a piece of bark in a tree where he stopped. Said he seen her run 30 yds past that so knows which direction. Then says he's worried about dew and the water not holding the blood. Said he's going to hunt the AM and then search. Text me a bit later and asked me to bring a deer cart, told it wouldn't roll good through marsh amd mud, especially with a deer but I threw it in the truck. I then text him "Can't get lost in there, road in 2 directions and big ass creek in the other 2. Dead deer somewhere in the center" He hasn't replied back, I think he might be a bit afraid of things that go bump in the night Here's the buck. Not gonna lie, given my situation this year, if I alreadt had 2 does don I'd have probably taken a shot. I have no standard this year.
I've been waiting for this scenario for years. An open bear tag, snow and a light wind. I'm damn near Giddy for tomarro morning. Taking off work and gonna put some miles on the truck cruising for a big track to to follow.
Well I got some good info today, saw where some deer were traveling around and I passed a 130’s 9 point. Had em at 33yds but first day of the trip, so much land to cover. I’m going for broke, have stand all set for am and then I’m gonna go to uncharted waters for tom evening sit.
I'm about as ready as I can be. Got the bow holder and stabilizer straps on tonight, have the seat adjusted somewhat level. Have nothing to hang the top section on to get it. Just eyeballed strap lengths. Today the winds were gusty in the lower and upper 30's but the deer were still moving, winds not as gusty tomorrow so putting on a thin insulated suit. So the red dots are 3 places I have sat evening with the west one being the chit show with lonewolf. Other two were day before when I had 6 sightings. Not counting the buck as wasn't in range . Yellow lines are where the deer were coming in, fully expect morning to be the same route, not many options unless they are already there when I go in. Want to set up somewhere in the blue, there's a couple options, but I didn't look at them with climber in mind either. Calm variable winds overnight becoming WSW in the teens with gusts to low 30's. Figure variables will hopefully be some sort of west to southwest and take scent to the substation. Don't want to try first climb blind on a walk, plus other hunter will be seaeching for his deer so might push some to me as well. Will be the first climb with it so getting in probably 45 minutes before I normally would to give myself plenty of time to get set up. Also going to knock that blind material down.
