I’m all loaded up and I’ll be headed for Kentucky tomorrow morning. The farmer said all of the crops are out of the field. This should be a good trip.
That’s happened to me twice and I killed a deer within an hour both times Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Moving my stand in there tomorrow I think. Nice 8 from summer is back. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Don't laugh at me. I've never really hunted around crop fields. How do deer react to picked corn? They just harvested the corn and I'm wondering how one of the bucks I'm after might react by relocating. He beds maybe 400 yards away from those fields. On the other side of the 100 acre woods is a soybean field.
Not exactly sure what is going on… Earliest doe in heat ever? 5 different bucks on this cam in the last 2 hours. Check the guy in back. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Wouldn’t think it affects him all that much if he beds 400yds away. Hard to tell if he prefers beans, corn, or acorns… but we all know how much deer love picked corn. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Deer used to gravity to picked corn years ago. They still do but the new machines leave very little corn left on the ground. The first 2_3 days can be great as the deer just go to it out of habit.
I’m heading to Kentucky and I can tell you from recent experience hunting there that the new machines leave plenty of corn on the ground. The does will be ALL over that. Before too long the bucks will be checking out the does munching on corn. A freshly picked corn field is money right now.
I don't have access to the corn fields. Just bits of property near them where they may bed. I may need to rethink some stuff.
I don’t think it will affect him much if he is not pressured. In fact, as the seeking stage ramps up he might stage near the edges of the woods earlier now that he is able to view the field.
Just heard the words from a meteorologist that we all live to hear in mid October, "Major cold-front" this Monday into Tuesday, and major temp drops after it comes through.....
Teammate @dustywilmuth was able to stalk up on a bachelor group of bucks and was able to take this one on the ground at 7 yards last evening.
