Didn't know how close you were. I was up there for a week on vacation with family. Didn't think to check if you were near there til I got back. In the whole week there I only saw 1 doe. How ever the bears seem to be thick in that area. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
There are some here that are dropping, mostly red oak, and I have yet to see any white oaks dropping. We've gotten a ton of rain in this area all summer, so I'm sure that has helped.
A bunch of Bucks in NJ this year. One really nice 8, a wide 6 and a Funky Buck I'd shoot. Then a bunch of nice 16-17" spread 6-8's for the kids.
Just found a property about 60 miles away that looks interesting. A full 2.5 mile walk to the far end of the public. No other way in and the terrain is pretty rough minus a specific way in from a neighboring ridge. I could see myself having a long thin hardwood ridge all to myself come November. Only thing to do now is walk in and figure it out.
Scouted a little more yesterday only to find a couple of yellow jacket nests and thankfully didn't get stung. They were only about 15 feet apart. That is the second time this year I have found 2 really close together. Today is their last day on this earth. Live it up ya bastards
Nope. Ha! It is on my parents place here in the foothills. I know the place like the back of my hand, but I'm trying to figure out how the deer use it. 10 years ago, there were never deer here and now they are everywhere around here. It's a good problem to have. I also discovered that one of the neighbors has planted a food plot, probably a half acre mix of stuff, and I need to call and thank them. Too bad for them I'm between it and the best bedding. Wah wah waahhhh
Scouted about 3 hours Sunday afternoon marked 4 stand location on OnX. This one is probably my favorite. Bluff gap high rock walls on both sides with this opening in the middle that is funneling the deer from the cutover on the top (bedding)to the hardwood creek bottom below (food). Good trails and deer sign.
Real bad case of target panic and punching the trigger now. Can’t seem to rest my finger on my release trigger… so weird. This has never been an issue for me. Practicing at 10yds and closer until it feels normal. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Took a little break and shot at 10yds for a while. Backed up to 20 and was better. Back at it tomorrow to try and improve some more. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
A few things I've done when I get the yips...if any help: Switch releases (index to thumb of vice versa); Use a different finger or finger segment on the trigger, if using an index release; If using a thumb release, make sure you're wrapping your thumb around the thumb button; Change my focus - very mindfulness pull through the shot...or Blind bale shooting.
Keep shooting. It was a mental game for me for a long time. If I felt like I was going to punch the trigger or couldn’t settle the pin I would just let down. I would try to make the best shot every time I drew the bow back.
De Dealing with target panic also, I've been shooting with my eyes closed at 4 yards. Then I will pull up on the target and let down without shooting,. It has helped tremendously. Good luck
Lock on target. Silently or openly tell yourself you are making a conscious decision to shoot and then let one fly. Literally tell yourself you are making a conscious decision to shoot.
If your shooting at paper or a bag target. Try switching up to a 3d target. I know this helped me with dealing with my target panic.
Do you have access to a back tension or resistance release? I switched to the back tension when mine got bad. You can get comfortable enough with it to hunt easily. HUGE confidence builder when you hit that point as well. I've also done the eyes closed at 4 yards, no target on the bale(don't aim, feel the shot) Target Panic SUCKS
