Going to be one of those years for me. I'm stuck in the tree still 2 does in the field. The other walked by me and my release wont lock onto my D loop. Unreal ! I can't make this $hit up .
Gosh darn. I forgot my rangefinder/binos at the truck. Its always something. I know where my 20/30 yard circle is around me. After that its guessing. Ill be limited to 20 -25 yds. Now is when ill have that big bull 8pt come in at 40ish.
Geez these gnats are biting bad. Not many skeeters though. Guess those low night temps have them slowed down
My doe is hanging in the cooler where she’ll stay for the next 5-7 days. Me and the boys went home ate took a little snooze and I’m back in a tree. I may shoot another doe tonight if given a 20 yard or in shot and she’s heading in the right direction. I’m hunting real close to where I’ve had a big unicorn buck on camera quite often along with a couple other 8s I wouldn’t minding getting a good look at. Here’s a few pictures from earlier. My boys had a blast and did great on the track. It was a short 35-40 yard job but they knocked it out. I put them on first blood and away they went. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Needed a doe to take 2 more steps. Must've got a whiff of some of my scent from hanging stand. She was just uneasy and stepped into the corn.
Nawww, I’m blessed! Lucky is not not having any other kids running around from the blurry 4 years I was at college lol. Nothing so far but it sure is a beautiful evening! About an 1 hour and 20 minutes to go. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Just had a nice doe about 40-ish. She was in some thick so never presented a shot anyhow. Very vocal. Mustve had a fawn close by
So I got home and took the release apart and back together. The little set screw in the center of the hook on the release must have got into a position where it wouldn’t catch. Got it backed together after and it shot fine. Still might go get a new one. Don’t need that to happen again.
I jusr ordered a back up release last night. It'll become the primary and current one will once again be a back up. I must have dropped one a couple years ago, keep expecting it to turn up but never has.
So Friday and Saturday I think I will do all day sits. It's early but coldest temps of the season comung, likely see the firat freeze Friday night with highs in the 50's both days. I want to kill the 3 deer I signed up for, if I can get one early I'll get it to the processor then get back in. I don't think the other two will set foot on the property, other guy didn't go today because it was too hot at 75⁰. I think if I can kill 3 and donate one of them I'll have a better shot each year at getting drawn.
I thought about starting to bring another one with me after tonight’s episode but it seems like my pockets are full of stuff already. I guess it would make sense if your going to see more deer after the first one fails I guess you can never be to prepaired.
Basket rack came to base of my tree at last minute of legal light. Waited for him to move on a ways in case something bigger behind him.he mustve sniffed my sticks and a coiple gear ties for a few minutes. Never spooked. Cool night
8-10 does showed up. Let them walk. Next weekend will be a different story if one steps out Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
He's an absolute brute, remember you posting him last year, if he shows up this year he could be pushing typical 14pt and epicness. Hopefully he's got some genetics spread throughout your herd. Being he showed up last third of November, I'd hunt that part of the property starting the 0th, all day sits s much as possible hoping he shows up same time this year. A lot of hunters get the same buck year after year around the same time but not sooner. Guessing you ould have heard something avout him if someone killed him last year or found him dead out of season.
Gonna start cooling off big time here starting Thursday. Got 12 days left to get a bear. I havnt tried yet( been to warm) So I think I'll try to get that done. Still not planning on trying for a deer till late Oct. But that can change if temps stay cool.
