So my son ended up being the top scorer in 4-6th grade division in the AGFC Youth marksmanship challenge last weekend. We picked up his prizes yesterday. He won a BB gun, slingshot, hat, water bottle, and a pocket knife.

Tracking dog found blood again and we tracked for what seemed like a mile or more. Blood petered out. Deer never bedded. We never jumped the deer. The deer went uphill the entire way. Dog did a great job, but that deer is still walking.

I will not be out this afternoon.

Still no hunt...headache now stomachs with dizziness....Son came by ..I thanked him...lol
I did get out and checked garden cam. The big bucks haven't been back since, well the Sept all weapon doe only season. There are two 3 pts. and a spike with doe and fawn out there. Each with 12+" "beams"....future hunts on the hoof. I finished up the chicken coop blind and cut a clear view to the corner of field. Had to move a 20+ft. Limb from a blind trail and remove the broken trunk of a 80ft dead ash that fell across the Gator trail. 2 less hazards to avoid going in. Winds have not been good here the last two days so glad I'm feeling crappy now.
Congrats to all you guys with deer hanging...Good luck to the rest of you. I'm thinking about a blind sit tomorrow...just to see movement...well, unless a big boy were to show.

Ok I'm I'm in on the public about 6 miles from my house. Up in the climber sitting about 15yds from the field edge. The field is private I'm trying to catch them coming to feed tonight. Did pass by some fresh droppings on the way in. It's really thick in here I'm probably 12 ft up. 1st pick us straight away and the 2nd pic is field on my right. Lots of squirrels running around IMG_20221002_163400.jpg IMG_20221002_163410.jpg

I'm done. Got there around 12 and it poured rain the whole time and no end in sight. By 4 I had enough and left. Completely soaked and 50 degree weather sucks.

Sorry to hear about the deer VT. You sure went the extra mile trying to find him.

I'm not sure I didn't think about this earlier today. With the NE wind I should've got here earlier and hung a stand. I got here at 450 and I was hunting by 520. Drove right to the tree. This is where I hope to shoot one.

    Good luck tonight 20221002_172116.jpg
