The deer I shot today must have gotten a blood transfusion after I left the woods to come home. After 3 hours of searching I waved the white flag. Lost blood after a 100 to 150yds. That deer was leaking hard. Went back to shot site and if I arrow didn’t hit something mid flight I guess it’s possible I ranged the wrong tree. We checked dead falls , there’s really no water there for the deer to travel to. Don’t know what else to say. If the deer expired already it won’t take long to go bad is over 60 today. Might get back out for the evening since I have to drop my daughter off somewhere anyhow.

So looking like I'm out of opening day this year...I just maybe working on a mild case of covid. Leg pain has gone to over all body being put through a wringer washer. Sinus and dry throat tickle has developed rubber cement in my throat and a light cough. Then there is the bouts of dizziness that's had me grabbing furniture and walls.
Other than that I feel fine. ...lol
I was so hopeful even premade dinner, creamy chicken and broccoli parm over noodles for hubby with fresh green beans and beet greens. Oh well at least that's done, maybe everyone else around me will spook deer to move on to our place.
All trespass cams were. set up last week so no need to be out there unless hunting.
Good luck guys I'm going to go rest a bit

2nd sit of the season for me this afternoon. Sitting on the west side of the property just off an alfalfa field. With a rare East wind this was really the only stand that made sense.
70 degrees when I climbed up at 3:00, but gotta start getting on them. Will be 40’s in the morning. Looking forward to that.

I met a buddy at noon and we scouted a new WMA for about 3 hours. Jumped a couple of does out of a thick draw near a pond. There are hardly any acorns in any species of oaks. We are in a serious drought and need rain bad. The drought is killing the acorn crop this year.

He set up near the pond about an hour ago for the evening. I went home. Unfortunately, one of the mounting screws on my sight came loose and was lost on my walk out this morning or I would be out for an evening sit. Really hoping that the screw hole in the riser isn’t stripped out. I had this happen last year. I put a longer screw it in with loctite and it held until today.

Just had young deer at 40. Left that one live. Seems like it shouldn’t be alone

I plan on shooting a doe tonight! Longest shot is 20 yards.

Sun in my face the next 90 minutes. Beautiful day. Beautiful day.

Hour left till sunset here, maybe 1:15 of shooting light with this cloud cover, hoping for some movement soon. 55 and damp is chilly, should have thrown an extra layer on
