This is the first house Ive owned where I don't feel comfortable shooting on my property. Oh well. I found a free archery range today at a local park about 15 min awauy. Gonna start shooting there a lot.
Last night my four-year-old asked me to teach him to shoot. This morning before the rain we broke out the pellet guns in the backyard.
Did my annual trip to Scheels in Fargo today. What a fricken mistake,. The place was PACKED and it's a huge store. Went to the broadhead isle. Was a revealing moment. Huge selection of heads but the only replacement blade I seen to buy was Muzzy 100s. I told an employee if they are gonna sell the heads, they damn well sell replacement blades. He shrugged his shoulders. Sure was nice though going to a place to shop and see nice/fit women. Unlike a Walmart trip.
Hadnt shot the bow in a couple months. Bronchitis had me down May/Jun. Then back should pain. Steroids, muscle relaxers and nsaids had me feeling good yesterday. Group at 30, sight was off...back to 40, oops wrong way. Group 3 getting tired, couple flinches 7 of 9 found the mark). Need to rebuild some strength, only 6 wks left. Distance, form and tighten the group. Extra nsaids for breakfast.
Bill how long have you had that target? I got one a year or 2 ago. It looks like you shoot a lot more than me. Have you put broadheads into it?
2 years mostly field points. Maybe a hundred or two broad heads. I only shot 27 arrows yesterday, normally I shoot a lot more.
It's getting closer fellas! Love seeing the trail cam pics and has me wishing I put more effort to put a few out. But I would probably do more damage then good at this point. The bows are coming out this week and start to get in a routine of shooting. Going to try my longbow again and see how many deer I miss this year before I go back to my compound! Luckily my buddy had the time to get a few out at one of our spots. Not bad. Hope a couple of these stick around
All this about shooting bows has me feeling a bit sheepish. Just getting settled in the new house in NC. I'm not even fully unpacked and trying to find a nearby bow shop to see if my bow is still hitting right after the move. I don't really have a great safe angle to shoot in this backyard, so time to get creative with a good backstop. I also need a new target! I'm so far behind....
Mn Hunter. Nice! I've hunted ND for coyotes for years and have snuck up on a few slammer whitetail/Mulies..
