Love this weather. Sure would hate to see a deer move through here and ruin my relaxation time.

I'm down and finally back at the house. This afternoon I moved to a tree at the east border of my property where I hunted the opener. It's only about 70-80 yards from the tree I was in this morning. The only buck pics I've gotten are traveling north/south close to the east property line.

About 10 minutes before last light I saw a single big deer coming down the hill straight for the tree I was in this morning. I glassed but by the time I found it in the binoculars it was in thick cover and all I could tell is that it was a buck. It might have been Trump or the little 100" 8 point or a totally new one. I don't know. All I know is it was big bodied and I caught glimpses of antler. I could hear it angling away from me but it was getting dark fast.

I waited until it was good and dark and I finally packed up and climbed down as quietly as I could and sneaked out. I didn't hear it run so maybe I got away with it.

    I guess I shouldn't have moved, huh?

Sometimes all you can do is laugh.

I'll go back out in the morning and does will be fair game.

The perfection of empty hunts is an uphill battle. The training just kicks in mostly.

Back home. Ton of deer in the neighbors green field. Had a deer sneak through to the north of me 30 minutes before dark. Didn’t see what it was.

Walking out and busted something out of the beans with a big body. Passed by the trail they come out on where I have a mock scrape and it was stunk up. Pretty sure it was a buck that hit my mock scrape. I’ll check the card on Friday.

First big buck on camera in a while. I’d shoot him

He’s in the living range of Marco. But doesn’t look like him. Wish it was buddy

I got set up with an hour to wait until first light.

I don’t know about you all but I’ve always thought it was incredible sitting in the dark listening to the sounds of the dark forest.
