Hopefully silence is from the elbows deep and drag than she had gotten up from where he thought she bed and walked off.

 

Wellllll, been tracking and grid search for an hour. Blood tracked nicely to the point I saw her dump, but she didn't die. Just bedded. She got up at some point that I didn't see and walked off. More blood about 10yds out of the bed, then nothing. My flashlight is great. Pics up blood easily. There was one path leading out of that area and I just walked it for 50 more yds but not a drop. Im out now. Will hunt the morning in a different stand and then go back to look for more blood in the daylight and grid search. Not how I wanted to start my 2021 season.

 

This is what I had out to the bed. Then nothing.

 

Bummer man. From the looks of that arrow, I wouldn't think she went very far.

That 100yd walk, is seldom in the direction of the vehicle.

I want to believe, he's trying to get her on ice... That arrow looked pretty good.

Wow, I would have never thought that. The only concern I had was when you described her after the 100 yd run and she either bedded down or died rather than tipped over or did the death dance.

Good luck in the morning and hope the temps are sufficient to salvage the meat if you find her.

Blood looks good. That's more than a meat hit. Usually good when you see the weird light pink color surface in the bigger drops of blood. she's dead. she just made an inadvertent leap off that path and you could've easily walked right by. get her in the AM.

Yeah, had that happen a time or three

 

I wonder if it was a liver hit? I had something similar to that happen and blood looked like that. I jumped the deer a hour or so after shot. Ended up going 200 yards and died sometime during the night. Found the next day.

 

He said blood was pouring down right behind the front leg though, that's what had me confident of dead deer after seeing the arrow. Never seen that much blood on the entire arrow and fletches, on a pass through, that wasn't lethal. Usually exiting brisket, front or low, will clean the fletches off and maybe have a chunk or two of meat/fat.
