I'm tied in and settled. Took me a bit longer. Had to pull over for a work teams meeting. Also got hung up by two doe fawns on the walk in. Its looking good here though. Over cast, that light east wind in my face, about 73. Perfect September NJ hunting weather.

Mosquitoes are brutal. Thank goodness for thermacell. 20210916_151101.jpg 20210916_151105.jpg 20210916_151115.jpg

Feels awesome to be in a tree, suited up and able to shoot something. Brook behind me is the only water for a half mile. Well worn path to it and lots of cam pics.

Not going to move my stand for now. I will try a morning sit Saturday/Sunday and then move it somewhere on the south end. Will set up my tactacam on the opening to monitor if they are still using that opening and will set up if they are.

Okay it has been settled. I'm going out n the morning. I'm going to hunt a spot that I put my dad in that is only a few hundred yards from where we park. That should eliminate the drenching wet sweating I experienced the other morning walking in over a mile.

I've got a cell cam at the site and refill the bait the next day.

I've done the oil on the ground but I only had a limited supply. I'm in a small town and with people not eating out as much due to covid, fry oil is in limited supply but the same demand by hunters. That is why I decided to fry the bread-save a bit of the oil but still have some scent.

The area I have access to is mixed use. Some residential, some ag, some wooded. So, not a high bear area like up north in the forested areas. But I also don't have to wait 10 years to get a tag for those areas either.

They could be in the corn field about half mile away...looking for acorns...

Hoping for a weather change to bring in a more northerly wind but that won't happen until mid to late next week.

I used to put on a T-shirt and shorts until I got into my stand and then stripped down, put those clothes in a plastic garbage bags and then put on Scent-lok. It did seem to work.

Had some time to look at this. I'd say it's pretty unhuntable in the mornings cause of all the fields. But if I was to hunt it I'd set up on the top edge of your bean field, probably in the corner closest to where you park. Observe for a few mornings and then see if its feasible to move any closer.

I do that for my 2 plus mile walks. I didn't want to do that the other day because of tics.
