They do have one, not many permits available, more down your way than up here but they are regulated and huntable now for a few years.

I might try for one this year, think application is $5 nonrefundable and permit costs more if drawn.

I did know about this. I must have forgotten. Im definitely going to try. Ive had more opportunities to kill a bobcat than turkey during my deer hunting this year. Thats a problem. Could have killed at least 4

I plan on it tomorrow afternoon.

Thats actually one of my go-to spots. It’s a good one sometimes. Other times you can sit there and see nothing.

I’m back up in the same tree I was in yesterday.

Here’s hoping something moves here this morning.

I’ve seen 12 does this morning. Four going north at 70 yards, 5 going south at 100 yards and the three that just came in behind me almost right to the base of the tree.

That didn’t work out well. Once these Wattensaw deer get in close and go on alert it’s over, and even though I told myself there was still a chance it was indeed over.

The lead doe looked me over three times but didn’t bust out. Mossy Oak Treestand works really well here this time of year. It also helped that I am 33 feet up.

They started to go back the way they came and I tried to get my bow. That’s when the third doe I didn’t know was there bolted.

    Game over.

If the wind had been out of the SW like the lying Weather Channel said it would be I would have a doe on the ground.

On another note, since it’s 62 degrees this afternoon I wore my lighter gear. I left my gloves in my other jacket and I have none with me.

First time ever hunting with no gloves at all.

    It feels weird.

I’m finally down. I’m in a GOOD spot there.

I saw 2 bucks and 15 does. All too far away during shooting light but close enough that I was pinned in my tree for over a half hour again after dark.

It’s only a matter of time there.

You're zeroing in Chief. Tomorrow could be the day a buck dies.

Not tomorrow. The wind is shifting and will be out of the NE. Every deer I saw would have winded me with that wind.

I left my stand there and I’ll go to the other one I set up today for a NE wind.

I’m pretty pumped about getting back in there though.

One of the bucks I saw was a heavy horned stud. I can’t say what he would score since I only saw a side view, but I’d guess 130-140 if the right side is similar to the left. The other was about a 100” 8 point and I’d shoot him and be ecstatic right now. .
