Same thing happen to me. It was 90 today, but the wind keep it fairly nice. Then about hour before dark it died down and the sweat started rolling!

I “liked” the post because I’d still consider it a good sit. Much better than mine.

I kind of know how you feel. Years ago hunting public land here I had a big mainframe 10 with stickers come in following a doe. I had been prepping to get down and I had put my quiver on my bow. I never shoot with the quiver on.

I stopped the buck and he stopped with a 2 1/2”sapling right in front of his vitals. A shot on either side Of that tree and he would have been dead because it was less than a foot from him.

I aimed just left of the sapling, touched the release and dead centered it.

That Slick Trick is still in that tree I guess.

Oh, that was a morning sit. That evening I missed a really nice 8 point. That was a sucky day.

I was on the ground in the shade, but the wind definitely died down. I didn't sweat at all, my thermacell is out of butane (on the way) and the bugs didn't even bother me. The only thing that could've made the night better was a fat doe in range...with a booner tagging along. Mind as well shoot for the stars, right?

It was a great sit. I happy that I was able to get on deer so fast. This was only the 3rd time every on this property. But after wounding one friday, and now a complete miss tonight, just easy to get down on your self. My season isn't even a week old. But luckily I'm going to keep positive and push forward.

At least it was a clean miss and she is unscathed. It just wasn't meant to be tonight brother. You are in the deer, keep doing what you're doing and you know its gonna all come together!

No man made materials allowed at the bait site and a 10 gallon limit.

No dogs allowed in my zone.

    I RTFM....lol

I'd probably end up eating the sweets before they were put in the bait barrel.

    It's a thing.

I wasn't really clear. Can't use a steel barrel. Can use a hollow log and put a rock on top but can't use a concrete block. I can put it on the ground but must prevent deer from getting to it.

People use all sorts of baits

I was in the stand as well, left phone on the ground so no saddle selfie. The stand location was my backyard, practicing high angle close shots, I killed the hell out of a 350” imaginary deer many times though. It’s a no fence deer so it wouldn’t have counted anyway.

Seeing 9 deer is a good set. A clean miss is better than a wounded one, so don't get too down on yourself.

I’m set up for a morning hunt. We’ll see if anything moves this morning.
