Went to a public spot, saw 16 doe but no shots. Got permission to hunt the neighbors prop, she told me to kill as many doe and yotes as I can, looking forward to next season!

Once again I got pinned in my tree by does.

Last light was 5:53 and I finally managed to get down at about 6:30.

I left my gear in the tree and I’ll be back there in the morning. Does were off the hit list this evening, but tomorrow morning I’ll shoot one if I get the chance.

More getting pumped to scout. I'm telling you and I hope some of you will join me in the fall, I'm spending a few full days ground hunting and moving during the rut.

I made it to my tree about a half hour before first light.

    Nothing is moving yet.

I put @cantexian in the spot where I killed my doe here in October. Unfortunately I didn’t have time yesterday to mark a tree for him, so all I could do was drive him to the parking spot and tell him how to navigate to the right area.

Hopefully one or both of us will connect.

The deer usually move a lot here from 8:30 to 9:30 late season. We will see.

Good luck to the few still out.

Perfect weather here to scout, but it'll all be gone in a couple hrs... 20220122_081849.jpeg 20220122_081813.jpeg 20220122_081710.jpeg 20220122_081559.jpeg

All I’ve seen so far is squirrels, but from now until about 10:00 is the best time in the mornings.

In and set up for a mid day. Wondering if I got in to early. It's still only 15. Hopefully I can draw my bow with all this gear on. Lots of snow geese moving south. Every song bird on the planet is out. Bright sunshine.

Alright alright! I'm heading in. Back to same spot as last night. Going to move 20 yards or so closer to what those deer were feeding on. Hopefully I don't blow out the bedding this time like yesterday. Taking my time and doing a super slow walk. Check back in a couple hours once up a tree.

    Good luck guys!

I would say 95 %. During rifle season I will go on private, because public becomes by reservation only in most spots I like to hunt. Usually they are full most days, so not worth the effort. I got a few bow only places around me that I need to put more effort into scouting for following years.

Thanks for the info. How large is the main public you hunt?

Not big. Between 250 acres to 1000 acres. They don't take pressure real well, so got to keep moving around to find deer. I do have a couple around me that are in 3000- 5000 acre size, but seem to attract the most attention.

I'm in and set. Didn't jump any deer that I saw. It's bright sunny sky's. Light winds. Completely different then yesterday. The ground is frozen and loud, deer could hear me walking for hundreds of yards. Lots of people out working in yards, so hopefully that is some cover sound for my approach. I set about 25 yards from were I was last night, right in the thick crap. This is were the deer want to be though.

    Feels like a killing night!

Nothing but a Yote for the mid day hunt. I've gone to the other side of the farm for the afternoon. The sun beats down on the hillside in the afternoons. Wind is good for me here as well. Only bad thing is that everything is on sight here cause I have the babbling brook 20yds from me. Good luck everyone!

I’m all set up for the afternoon sit.

Same spot as yesterday and this morning but in a different tree due to the wind shift.

If does show up I might try to shoot one this evening.
