Well, I lucked out a little with my wife’s car. No dead rat, however I did find the source of the smell. The rat got into some of my catfish bait and had taken it up into the engine to eat it. I found melted bait on the top of the transmission as well as the beginning of a nest. Unfortunately, it is too far down for me to get it out and I do not want to try hosing it out with all the wires and sensors in the area. I would probably short out something and end up with an expensive repair. Told my wife she would just have to live with it until the smell went away.

Just hit it with the pressure washer and engine clean spray from the car wash. You’ll be ok and you wife will be happy.

Yea that stuff is made to get wet. Ive driven my truck through some deep water where it was floating at times and no issues.

No there isn’t, but I managed to shake off the bad shot blues a bit and I’m back on stand.

I’m actually in the same tree and don’t expect to see anything because of the way we stomped the cut-over up yesterday morning and the night before, but most of the traffic doesn’t come from there so you never know.

    Good luck @LittleChief
I hit one in the shoulder about a week before I got my buck and he was probably 120s or 130s and I really thought about being done for the season. My fiance told me to go out, that I worked to hard this season to just give up. Thank god I did. Keep at it you will shoot a big one!

Got the go ahead from the wife to head down to MD for an evening hunt this Saturday, think I’m gonna go into some public as my cameras have been slow on the private I hunt. Hopefully there will be snow left over from the storm coming through Thursday night!

The anticipation is so high then It comes and goes so quick, never around long enough. But I still manage to get completely burnt out and lose Motivation, yet I still want it to be Halloween all over again, the life of a bow hunter.

Work didn't put me on the OT schedule surprisingly. Not a chance I'm going out Friday morning in single digit lows and double digit below zero windchills for a deer I am not eating.

Might give it a go Saturday, last chance after that is next Friday as we are doing Covid-Christmas on the 15th and season ends 1/2 hour after sunset the 16th.

Well, was supposed to be in a tree tomorrow afternoon, but my PD is riddled with Covid and I have to cover shifts. Try again to get to NJ on the 20th.

I hear ya on the riddled part. I have one bunch that is down to bare bones. Hopefully we don't get any major storms that knock the power out.

Thats what I am hoping for! Going to some public close to the border I have only been to once or twice. Give it a shot and see what happens! anything besides a fawn and small buck will be on the menu

I made the trip to Arkansas this morning.

I’m all set up on Wattensaw WMA and I’m excited about this spot. The last two years I’ve seen bucks cruising here in Jan/Feb but they were always out of range.

I came in from a different direction and found a tree that is in a great location if they move anything like the last couple of years. It was a much longer hike in but I think it will be worth it.

Im only about 15 feet up but I have a good back drop of tree limbs. I can see multiple trails through the switchback cane coming towards me.

This is a better morning spot. I’d bet that if I see anything this afternoon it will be does.

The bucks I’ve seen here are almost always moving in the mornings.

I won’t shoot a doe here during the afternoon sits. Not yet anyway.

As expected, it was a DSS sit.

Tomorrow morning has real potential though.
