So took A. J. for our walk and ran into neighbors son and friends. They were getting ready to go in a drive the sanctuary to r a rabbit hunt. That could drive deer my way, but here I sit...They no sooner got out there fog rolled in and it is so thick you can't see 20 ft in front of you. No I just don't feel safe enough when it is still blk powder and the last day.
So many a tag soup but have plenty of meat with my 2 doe and one of sons. It's been a tough year, yes I did pass and had some close encounters. I DID NOT see as many deer as usual. The results were what I knew they'd be per past experience. Is what it is, sorry team members tried to give us more than 50 pts. I gave it my best, I hunted a whole lot of days from Sept to now.

Whilst researching the handwarmer, if found heated glove liners and heated hand muffs. Might take a look at those as well

I have all three of these items and honestly, the rechargeable hand warmers are the most versatile. If you put the hand warmers in your gloves they are unbeatable. You can also put them in a muff and they work very well. The weak point for the heated muff is it doesn't heat evenly throughout. The heated gloves are just to bulky to be practical. Here's how I would rank these items.

Rechargeable hand warmers inside a muff: Killer!

Rechargeable hand warmers alone: Very good.

    Heated hand muff: Meh

    Heated gloves: Pass!

I wear a glove for my bow hand below freezing but never wear one on my release hand. Hand warmers or critical.

No need for apologies. I don't have a Buck on the board either this season. Can't get one every year. I still have 8 more days of hunting in NJ before the contest ends. All I can do is keep hunting.

    Thanks for the info Jim!

I prefer to kick the tires when ever possible but info from someone who has been there, done that, is always valueable as well.

Put on 125 miles today looking for coyotes.
    Not a one.
Many miles not a soul has been down since it snowed last Sunday. Tracks everywhere! _27* here now.
    Woodstove feels GREAT!

The only negative I would have about the rechargeable hand warmers is that you have to keep them out of the wind. If you don't, the cold air dissipates the heat so quickly they won't stay charged very long. But if you keep them inside your gloves or a muff, you are golden.

I went 6 yrs. until this year since i shot a dandy. In my younger days there was no way i would let half the deer walk that i did in those 6 yrs. I had MANY close encounters with HUGE deer but luck was never on my side it seemed. Whether it was a wind swirl or a noise or some other critter that spooked them. Alot of times it was the dang Does fault. But thats hunting. If ive learned anything its that hunting and apologies dont go together. Never apologize for what you did or didnt kill. Thats between you and the deer woods :tu:

All set up. It went from rain to freezing quickly last night so everything was frozen solid. The padding on the rails and sit and climb bar are frozen solid. The Hazmore silent seat was frozen all bunched up. I managed to stretch it out enough to sit on something.

I left my Ozonics screw in mount in the tree. I managed to get my Ozonics mounted but I can’t tighten it down yet. The threads are frozen up.

I know it’s not bad to you northerners but here in the south we just aren’t used to this yet.

Still, I’m dressed fairly well for it and so far I’m comfortable.

Hubby surprisingly like his hand warmer. He says it's not hot on high but a good warmth. Doesn't like how long it takes to fully recharge but being sick with chills and sore joints he has learned it's GREAT tucked up under the back of his neck.

Well, so far the only life forms stupid enough to be out and about instead of staying where it’s warm are one squirrel and myself.

I’m back up in a different tree.

I forgot to bring my boot covers this morning. At about 9:00 I’d had all my feet could take, so I climbed down and carried the top section of my Summit back to the house to thaw it out. I used a blow dryer to thaw the pads to the point I could unzip them and tossed them in the dryer. I also blow dried the Hazmore seat.

I grabbed a bite to eat and went back out WITH my boot covers.

The wind was iffy for the tree I was in so I moved to a better tree. I may just sit for the rest of the day.

I’m not going to make it until the end of the day without a break. The 25 mph gusts are sapping the “want to” right out of me. It’s actually colder than it was when I climbed up this morning.

Im going to get down at 1::00, warm up, put a charge on my Ozonics battery and get back up at 3:30.

Im in for a recharge. Ate some hot food and putting some dry socks on. After the drive and only 4 hrs sleep im zapped. Gonna drink some coffee, go to the mirror, and b!tch smack the weakness out of myself. Its 20 degrees not zero. Crazy how cold it feels when you aren’t acclimated to it though. I didnt see a dang thing this morning but found some good stuff for next year. My buddies who are hunting with me both saw deer so targets are confirmed. Headed back out about 2:30. Good luck LC and whoever else!:thewave:

I was going to go out this afternoon for the last few hours with this cold front. But, we are having the same wind gusts. I could also tell my wife need a break from the kids more than I needed to be hunting today. We were trapped in the house all day yesterday with that thunderstorms system. Back to work tomorrow. Weekends only the rest of the season.
