So just before close I think I'm hearing something and go high alert when I see movement in the brush just along plot edge. About 50 yrds in front of me. It's a single large bodied deer walking head down through the thick brush left to right in front of me and behind the pines right there. I wait and wait for it to circle around the pines and come I but it never showed. I'm pretty sure it was a buck but the head was to difficult to see.. it did have a big rear end.. we'll see what cams tell me in a day or two. I believe it was laying on the side of small incline to neighbors flat line trail. Just didn't move after seeing me go into blind until near dark.. Still hope, we'll see tomorrow.
Got home started dinner and hit exhaust switch and showered in yellow sparks..Oh GREAT!at least nothing caught fire. We cut power and removed the exhaust. Stuffed the exaust whole to outside cover.
We actually have a microwave /outside exhaust combo to put in, bought it years ago...he has no excuses now...Lol

This morning will probably be the grand finale for me. Going to set up near some pines hoping for deer to bed in there. Have an East wind this morning. Good luck anyone still after it.

Good luck Ash! Think I'm down to just one more half day hunt myself before the season ends on Sat.

I got a call from my Dad last evening. He's in Ohio still trying to get his buck. He took his granddaughter (my niece) along this this trip because she wants to shoot a buck. There are two ten points on my Dad's target list but haven't been showing up in daylight until this past week when he wasn't there. This one came in a couple minutes before last shooting light ended and she hit it a little high, which is why my Dad called. He explained the shot was high and forward and that he watched it run out the logging road about a 100 yards and lost sight of it. I told him he better wait a couple of hours or wait until tomorrow morning. He said it was supposed to start raining at 4:00 AM. Needless to say he went out a couple of hours later and found it dead. To say my niece was a little excited is an understatement.

2.5yr old 90" 8pt, 12" tall spike and 4" tall spike just went through. Would have been a tough shot through the brush and he will make a great Buck next year, so I didnt try a shot. Fun start though.

Just had 12 Doe/Yearlings go through. Could have shot any of them at 5-30yds, but with all the Doe the farmer shot this year I just couldn't bring myself to shoot a Doe here. Nice 8pt or bust at this farm.

It was a whopping 22 out and it sounded like walking on semi broken glass that I was finishing off. stayed close to road because of it. We still have hunters at their camps and I'm not willing to push anything to anyone this late in the game. I saw NOTHING. Did check cams a little bit ago. times right dates wrong...smallest 4 I've seen this year and a fox last night.
We are under a winter warning advisory until 11pm. a sleet/snow right now and then rain/ freezing rain/ layer of ice later in the day.I will really have to think on going back out in this. Wouldn't be too bad but winds are now picking up. white stuff was blowing this way then that and in swirls to boot.

    I’m back in a tree.

The ONLY reason I’m out this afternoon is because I left my Ozonics in the tree last night planning to go out this morning but it just kept warming up overnight so I slept in.

Since it’s going to rain tonight I figured as long as I had to climb the tree I might as well sit for the last two hours of daylight.

I don’t expect to see anything but squirrels but you never know.

Nope just couldn't do it. Then remembered..we have to drop car off to have ABS system fixed. So a good excuse not to go in high winds and now freezing rain. Good Luck guys.
