Think he meant can't find the tag for the buck, not the buck itself.

Got the doe deboned and on ice in the cooler. Finally ate dinner at 9:30. Time for shower and bed. Back to work for 3 days then off until after New Years.

We have a three day private land antlerless gun only hunt a few days after Christmas. May go back out the my buddies farm for another doe or two if it works out. If not, I try to get it in a bow hunt or two. See if I can score on a late season buck on public land.

Good job cantex. Glad to see someone shooting better then me.
Warden called me back. He thanked me for the info.
I'm good too go. He's always been a stand up guy(as long as you don't try bullshitting him).
    Tried both landowners, no answer/callback.
Supper, one more beer n bed.
    Rollercoaster ride today.

Shocker, sorry for the confusion, found buck, not my tag.

Don’t feel bad about your shooting. I drilled the head shot on the first doe. The second one that stood there long enough for me to take a second shot got off luckier. :busted:

i was too eager to double tonight and rushed the second shot.

    Well thanks VS.
Really feeling kinda ****ty now with not getting a callback from the niebors.
Neither hunt and its remote and odds are know one would ever know but....

Super fun day overall though. I have a great few buddies that we get together every year late season and make drives.
    Rare if something doesn't die..
Late season bow/deer drives are something I ALWAYS LOOK forewards to.
Have seen 100's of deer killed doing so. Fun times!!

While i enjoyed the meme, round steak is just not the way to treat awesome meat.

    Sorry, not sorry

I eat my round steaks like that all the time, just dry rub them and let them sit overnight in a bit of beer.
oh, and remove the bone/marrow before cooking.

Holy Cow it was cold out there... went for first couple of hours tracks EVERYWHERE. but before I got there and yesterday afternoon. pulled card and lots of doe...makes me feel better the six I think. Bad pic and my buddy the 4.
Daughters first dog and companion since grad school had to have a toe and several growths removed, going down for a visit and to hit Sams . Will be out for the last day tomorrow.

I slept in this morning and soon I’ll pack up and make the drive home to Missouri.

It’s been a good trip but I’m a little tired and need a break, at least for a day or two.

@bucksnbears - Congratulations on the buck and I hope you get permission to go after the doe that crossed the river. You know as well as anyone that there’s no sense beating yourself up about shots that don’t work out like we plan. It sure has happened to me this year.

    Still waiting for a call.
Getting ready to go track the 2nd doe now. From where I bumped I bumped her last night there is about 50 yards to the property line so I'm sure hoping she is within that 50.
Heard coyotes across the river so that one may be a loss?
Check in later with a report.
    Gotta go.

    Trailed her to the line.
I'm sure I see her laying dead 40 yards onto neighbors.
    Can't retrieve without permission. Dammit!
