Seen your score card pics, updating my score slightly. 144 3/8 Gave a bit for the right G2 and removed some from right G3. Main beams are my biggest uncertainty.
Yes i did ease down, go to P.O.I and range my tree. I scanned quickly and got out of there. He probably was dead not long after i posted from truck. The shot was not high. I think i got caught up watching the fletching. I also hit him back further than i thought. Destroyed back of lungs and liver. Looked like his liver disintegrated. I imagine running with that slick trick in there was like putting it in a blender. Long story short he expired quickly but i wasnt sure so gave it time. I wouldnt change a thing.
No argument here, the only thing I was concerned about was waiting too long without known direction of travel and having to grid search from the beginning. I'm used to the scenario where deer cannot lay for more than 2 hours before coyotes can get on them, let alone overnight. Happy as hell you got in there and found him before coyotes or critters did assuming you are going to mount him. Either way meat was saved and hide intact, win win on any hunt. Congrats again.
I was thinking upper 140’s and hoping for 150. I definitely thought he was bigger than he is. The only thing i did tonight was tape his spread 19.5
Crazy how much bigger they can look in the heat of the moment. I just didnt have enough time to get a good look
His mass will help him, but length trumps all. He definitely is hurt by the short g2 and only 4 on other side. He was trying to be a 10 but didnt quite cut the mustard
You ain't far off either way. I think everyone on this forum would have shot him, regardless of what they say in hypotheticals. I have a tendency to misjudge the opposite way, but last year I definitely over judged.
Don't live by that mantra, mass can make up for length easily. I have a feeling some question the score on my buck this year. Mass helped overcome a bit of length for sure.
I didnt question your buck. I feel a little silly for pre maturely saying i may have shot a booner. He definitely wasnt as big as i thought but id shoot him again tomorrow even if he didnt break 140. Mature buck in december
That just took the score down, guessing 109 3/8. Forgot to subtract the gloat..... j/k hope you guys win if team 16 can't. We're still shy a buck score right now, nowhere near top two but in striking distance.
This came off wrong i wasnt implying you said i questioned yours, i was just saying i remember seeing it and it was a nice buck that matched up with the score you posted for sure.
Not you by any means, other indicators out there. Was actually looking forward to a call out Nothing wrong with adrenaline posting, you see what makes you shoot and only the recovery tells you if you seen what you saw. I'd shoot your buck every year, first day or last day.
Theres actually quite a few teams that could pull through. A few late season does could make a huge difference
Another pic that could have been confusing on scoring off a pic. Corn stalk/leaf in background blends in to left side of rack and looks like a G5
Thats a great Buck. I would not have given it a second thought after first laying eyes on it. Would have been all about the shot after first seeing the antlers.
