Dude just drove his truck all the way to the field from main road. Awesome. I parked and walked in from opposite direction. I'm 250 yds from him and could hear him close his truck door. Haha.

It’s 1:30 and I’m all set up on yet a different farm. This spot is one of the best I’ve hunted here.

We’ll see how it works out.

I could take it if the deer were moving there. The spot I’m in now is so much better.

It’s December 14th. It’s 66 degrees. Some dude is running a riding mower a couple hundred yards away and I’m sitting 30 yards from a picked corn field and an active scrape 20 yards away. Things just seem weird.

Last year was the first time I got to hunt this farm. The farmer’s younger son was hunting and claimed all of the other spots so the older son let me hunt his place. He does lease it to a fellow who only gun hunts but the guy said he didn’t care if I hunted it after gun season.

So, here I am. This is where I got one of my doubles last year.

I think I’ll let any does that show up walk tonight.

I have a feeling about this place. I believe mornings are better here so if I see does this afternoon I’ll probably see them again tomorrow morning.

No afternoon hunt for me. Hubby offered to work on a greenhouse project that evolves concrete.a beautiful day to o that. I also finished cleaning the garden. Picked 10 small heads of cabbage and some broccoli. A. J. had a ball hunting voles ,successfully. He was also good about dropping them when told to. I also had a chance to oil chair in my blind.man I was " sitting on eggs" this mornings, trying not to squeak. Speaking of eggs...think I got a bad one today..spent 90 mins. up chucking every 10 mins. Hubby was getting worried. Throat is pretty sore from acid and drinking propel to hydrate. That stopped so I'm hoping that's the worst of it. Will be out in morning ahead of a storm.
    Good luck guys

Well, not what I had in mind, I planned on ground hunting, but it would been a 60 yard shot to what I wanted to cover. I have not saddle and climbed a branch’s my tree, no platform, just some screw ins covering the only standing beans within 5-10miles.

There was another deer following him but it turned out to be a spike.

I almost sent an arrow at that first buck.

Had a second guy drive-in and park his truck not more than 20 yd from the other guy. And then they proceed to hunt 100 yd from each other without even knowing it. Well I learned something about that spot. I need to push back in another quarter mile probably

Four minutes left. Nothing coming. Looks like I get an evening where I don’t have to skin and quarter a deer.

What a night. I got in stand a little late. No movement during the hunt. I climb down at last light and walk over to the trail I cross in on. I get not more then 50 yards from my stand and something is tearing up the woods next to the creek im standing by. Sounded like 4 grown men running around a thicket breaking everything. I wait for a min and right before I start to move again I hear it. A huge crash of horns followed by an epic battle I could not see but they were not 30-40 yards from me. Guess there is at least 2 decent bucks close to the new area I have been hunting in. I will hunt there again thursday and hopefully friday and try to catch one slipping.

Had a doe and her little button buck, held off thinking something was behind her, turned out to be an opossum moving just like a deer.
Walking out the guy across the creek happened to be walking out as well, trying to be friendly I said hi and he just ignored me like a prick. Dumbass just had to say the first time we meet months ago and I’d of gave him 10 years of intel watching deer on that side.
    Whatever, his loss.

Not this time. I was hoping though.

In hindsight I probably should have shot that buck. He was a big bodied deer and had good mass on the side he had. He might have gone 60" with just the one side, but I just couldn't do it.

I have to admit it was nice getting back to the camper without having a big job ahead of me.

I need to kill one on a morning sit.

The world is full of jerks Steve. The best thing to do is ignore them and do your absolute best not to be one of them. I already know you have the second part down. :tu:

I'll be out Friday morning, not letting another East wind get away.

Seriously, I'm going to be out there before sunrise.
