'They' say 80% of the deer are taken by 20% of hunters. You must be in the top 2%

Okay. So I got that one cut up and in the cooler on ice.

That shot was right at last light. Shooting light ended at 5:08 and I shot at 5:08, and it's a good thing I have a light on my sight. She was almost right under me and quartering away. The arrow hit just left of the spine and came out behind the right front leg. She ran out into the field and piled up 30 yards away.

I'm trying to decide if I want to hunt in the morning or sleep in and get some rest. Something tells me I'll be in a tree about 45 minutes before daylight, but I'm trying to talk myself into sleeping in. I'm pretty stubborn, especially when I'm arguing with myself.

Either way, the bloodbath will continue tomorrow. I'm just not positive if it will be in the morning or in the afternoon.

On another note, I'm glad I had the foresight to stop and buy 9 bags of ice on the way here. There is no ice available anywhere right now. The area I'm hunting just got power back day before yesterday and Mayfield is still in the dark as far as I know, so no-one has ice.

Also, since there's no power, there's not much fuel available and from what I've heard you end up waiting in line for two hours or more. I had a heads-up on that so I brought 20 gallons of gas along, plenty to get me back to where there is fuel available.

Ok, how it went down. At around sunset a couple fawns came through the woods browsing to my NW. Just like last time I was there hunting they came out in the same area, this time I kept an eye on the side they snuck me last time. Sure enough that is where this doe and fawn came from. They milled around browsing in the woods and ended up walking directly under me again but this time they didn’t walk straight away. They both cut to my left which was absolutely perfect, shot was 18 yds and she only ran about 15 and fell over. The nice thing with hunting at my uncles is that I can drive right to them and load them up, she fell over just off the trail and it was a 10 ft drag.
