I need something to assist me getting a deer in the truck bed solo, even if I had to pull it into the bed a foot or so then lower it and repeat. I scratched the hell out of my tailgate trying to lift one in the past 2 years. Hindsight I should have removed tailgate altogether. I've seen shorter in the bed winches that swivel, but didn't know the taller ones could. Utility trailer would probably be more up my alley with the 4 wheeler, but seeing you and slugger with the ebikes has me thinking about ditching the 4 wheeler for hunting.
Congrats Johnny! I feel like I will be updating that personal scorecard daily this week. I can't help thinking that using this to field dress a deer would be awesome. What I have in mind is use the drag strap to drag it to the middle of a field. Then make the cut between the hindquarters, use my gut hook to open it up, then my knife to split the sternum. Then take the gambrel off, run the cable out and hook the cable around the next and hoist it up slowly. All of that messy gutting down on my knees would be a thing of the past. Once the deer is gutted and drained, pivot it into the truck and drive back to camp. Put the gambrel back on, hoist it up and take care of the rest. It sounds good in theory. I'll let you know how it works pretty soon.
I don't know about daily. If the deer move like they did today then it'll probably be daily and I'll get to go home early.
So, today was the last day to hunt with muzzleloader in MI and she has not had a blood bite since I got her. That drought has ended. I love taking deer with a firearm at bow range!
Yeah, I've been trying to figure out a way to get a block and tackle rig set up somewhere down in the bottoms. Drag the deer to it, hoist it up for gutting, lower down on 4 wheeler and head up to the truck. Deer I shoot always seem to die on uneven land. Constantly fighting the deer wanting to roll to one side or the other, or so flat everything just pools up.
I gut mine after I hang it with my hitch hoist. Works slick, then swing it into the truck bed. Sent from my SM-G996U using Tapatalk
As I use a plastic tobaggon to drag deer, I made a frame to put it in and then lift into the truck. Could use it with out the tobaggon just put more cross PC's in. A small notch where the 2x4 meets the tailgate holds it in place while you move down to the end to lift it up
