    What an incredible evening here.
Was to cold/calm to sit in a tree so just sat in the cabin.
At about 3:30, the floodgates opened up!!
Long story short, I know I seen 12 bucks and 25ish does.
Only the second time in 12 years I've had a big buck in bow range. He's the buck I've been hunting all year and he came through the back yard and stopped broadside. I was ready and had the window opened but just couldn't do it.
There are a few does that are getting kinda comfortable eating under my bird feeder during daylight and I promised myself I would not shoot a deer out the back window. Well, he was out the back window. Was super tough not to do but... I try to stay true to myself. I was waiting to see if he'd slide around out front and several times he was close to doing it (going to the foodplot)
But both times checked up short. He was not letting that doe fawn outta his site!.he was not interested in any of the older does.
At one time, there were 6 small bucks eating in the plot.
    Fun as hell evening!
The tree in the picture is 27 yards and he was 2 yards closer at one time.
    The lone deer in the plot is a 14" 4x4. I was tempted 20211206_164552.jpg 20211206_163551.jpg 20211206_155025.jpg

Hell yeah man...., he's one of the 2 I've been wanting to kill!
Just couldn't do it because of my "promise" to ,yself.

I was purty revved up seeing him from the cabin tho..
Would rather take him from a treestand.

Gotcha, didn't realize that was him. Should have snuck out the front and stalked around the cabin ala Fitz on countchocula....

Heck, no sneaking involved. Coulda shot him from the back (forbidden) window.
Have seen 100's of bucks out that window but only the 2nd time a "shooter" has been that close.
No regrets (well, maybe) a tiny bit:ninja:.
Was a super fun evening overall.

Thing is, you wouldn't have shot him from the window. Target down and promise to self kept.

Live from the desk today. I pulled the card closest to the stand I was hunting last night. Been crickets since the 27th of November when I last changed the card.

    Good Luck, everyone!

I got set up later than I wanted this morning - 30 minutes before daylight. I had just finished setting up when I heard them coming.

A buck of some kind was chasing does all around me.

They were gone before first light of course and I haven’t actually seen anything but a few squirrels.

    Nope not corny at all.

In our old house, the living room window overlooked our orchard. I put a flood light up in the peak so we could watch.

When we put up the new house, the layout flipped and the garage is now in the way.

So I get. Nice to just watch sometimes

I’m out took the .41 revolver, looking for a doe. Calm and cold, great night to be in a tree.
