Good luck! I sat the mid day period today and saw nothing, but I’m thinking that’s because it was so warm here. I’m a firm believer in the mid day movement period on the full and new moon, but today and yesterday’s temps had it shut down. Not sure where you’re at, but here the mid day period tomorrow is from 11:20 to 1:20.
That was very nice of you to say Adam. It's not too far removed from the truth, but it's not entirely true. If I invite someone to hunt with me I'll scout with them and even scout for them while they're hunting. I'll even put them in my best spots if the need arises. I tried to put more than one person in "my valley" but no-one wanted to hike out of it at the end of a sit. You have to watch your footing going down. Coming back up out of there will test your cardio-pulmonary fitness. I've about died a few times climbing out with my stand and all my gear, especially the past few years since I quit running. I'm human, and human nature always rears its ugly head. I want to kill deer too, and I do have a selfish streak like we all do if we'll admit it, but if I have a guest in camp my desire to see them succeed overrides that selfish streak. Still, I always have a little ace in the hole that I keep to myself. Like I said earlier, I was labeled "very goal oriented" by one of my very good friends in our hunting club. He told me that once when he was trying to get me to focus less on the hunting aspect of the trip and more on the camaraderie/party aspect of the trip. It didn't work.
Rifle sit this morning. Sitting the edge hardwood / thick pine second growth. Gonna get warm today, so, thought twice about going deep. If nothing spotted, I may bail late morning/midday and go scout a different parcel I marked years ago.
Hunted last night and saw a doe 400 yards away. In my box blind this morning. Not sure I'll shoot a doe with gun yet. Blue gill fishing this afternoon. Football games tonight. Looks to be a great day. I hope you all truly enjoy this weekend. Update on tracking BNB?
Here we go again. I agree with the midday sits but struggle when I start thinking of all the things I could be getting done. It was tough to get out of bed this morning. Chewing on breakfast then headed out. Good Luck AM shift. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Turkey flew down from roost 40yds away, rabbit at 3yds. 3 hunters arrived after I did this morning. Show time.
I’ve been set up for a while. The wind has shifted from the south to the north and it’s going to be 20 degrees cooler today.
My daughter and I are out with rifles. Hunting till 1000 then have to help the land owner take out wood he has split throughout the property. Good luck AM gang Sent from my Z719DL using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Didnt make it out this am. Its second firearm season here and i couldnt get a tag to hunt with my bow. I dont have the time today to hit the bow only zone. Got kids to wrangle . Good luck guys and gals. Got a little over a month left. Hoping Late season clover plots will produce some good results.
About 50 minutes north of Green Bay WI. We've had sw winds for too long. Trying to take advantage of the short time the wind will be from the west. That is until about mid day. Bucks can scent check my entire property from north to south in more open areas v just cutting the nw corner by staying in the thickest area of my property and the neighbors. Got to finish my chores and hit the shower.
You are too hard on yourself. Personally, I would rather share camp with someone that is going hunt and work all the time. Tags don’t get punched and freezers filled sitting in camp. FYI, there are places in Arkansas where the deer are eaiser to hunt than your preferred WMA. I owe you a spot or two
I’m down. I saw nothing so about 8:00 I got down and did some looking around this new spot. I found all kinds of sign so I know I’m in a good spot. It’s just a matter of time.
Zero deer. One tom turkey that gobbled for half hour. For 10 minutes of it, it sounded like spring! Must be looking for buddies. Off to blue gill fish this afternoon.
Damn coyotes jumped her doe out of a bloody bed. Judging by marks in the snow, it looked like a shoulder shot as there were drag marks.
Hung out until the wind direction was not worth staying. I have minimal to zero stands for an east wind. Did see quite a few deer though. Nothing in range though. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Damn it! Well stay on the track. Maybe they finished the job and you can shoo them off and still get her
Where you hunting Chief? You arent too awfully far from me if youre back in MO. Is this rain going to hit you?
