    A muscle hit like you originally thought is very possible. They start with a lot of good looking blood and then dry up pretty fast.

    These guys do this all the time… talked to two from the same outfit they both were willing to take the track and were confident with time the deer is dead. I’m 50/50.

    So true. I hate these stories, but we owe it to the deer to exhaust all recovery efforts. I had my first "failed recovery" last year. I did end up finding the deer, but she was ravaged by coyotes when I found her the next day.
    Cycle of life is all I can take solace in.

    Where do you think the exit was? Not sure if mentioned how high up you were and yardage at impact. Interesting that 2 trackers were willing to take it up, that would boost my confidence as long as they had multiple tracks under their belt.

    They think I clipped one lung maybe partial heart. 24 yd @ roughly 17 ft …shot angle wasn’t that steep. Prolly came by the opposite leg.

    Was inside of the blue circle in front of the log.
