Unbelievable. Two deer walked right by my other climber 80 yards away. One of these days I’m going to be in the right spot at the right time.
I’m cursed. That must be it. A huge lead doe just walked through my shooting lane at 32 yards but she was quartering to me so I waited. She didn’t present a broadside shot until she was at 20 behind some light cover. I tried to thread the needle and failed. The arrow clipped a limb and buried in the dirt right under her. At least I didn’t wound her. She had no clue what happened. She bounced out to 30, looked around trying to see any threat and then just walked away.
Update from last week and yesterday… I took a doe opener of gun last Saturday and my brother shot a huge doe on Thanksgiving…. We butchered them up yesterday afternoon … could have shot another doe this past Friday but she was little Lunch of champions right there! Deer sightings have been low as they are all hiding from the opener Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Perfect, cold morning and not a deer in sight over here. This is really getting depressing. I know, it beats working, but DAMN!
Wish I could be hunting. Interviews a pain to do!!! Good Luck, everyone!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It you have a food source you have a chance. These big wood food sources can be as "simple" as finding a single red oak that the deer focus on for a day or two. So anyone that has stable food sources on or near their property then you have a fighting chance. Those of us that dont, well the odds rapidly decrease after mid Nov.
I'm one of those that don't white acorns were insane this year. Usually all down by Halloween, had them falling late into second week of November. Red oak did not produce rgis year for some reason. Usually rolling your ankles walking past it through late November. Not a single one this year. Might have a few whites on the ground yet.
I wish guys wouldn't try lying to me. . A.J. and I checked property line today due to the snow showing tracks. He had to get a run in. Wow zero deer tracks on most lines. That said big coyote tracks everywhere!!' Deer at the garden plot though and I checked where guy said he tracked a doe. Give me a break! I trailed HIS tracks from line. No deer and no blood to a group of my trees where he "stood" feet this way and that. Packed down snow then he moves farther in where I pick up small deer trail and VERY, VERY, little drops of blood all across the property and he goes into the hunting camps land. I'm sure he lied to the neighbor that called for permission. They will have a surprise in the spring.
