I've never seen any good bucks down here but the does bed in this golden rod. Hopefully they come out to feed before the rain comes. IMG_20211121_152022.jpeg

Good shooting Slick, Mike's daughter, and big Tony!

Skylar - tough situation...I'm not a pet guy, but I couldn't shoot one.

Got to gun blind at 325. Had 1.5 yo buck traverse the length of the cornfield at 330. Still in buck only mode. Hopefully the early sighting is a good sign.

There is a creaking tree that sounds just like a buck grunting just over this rise and it's driving me nuts

I stopped at the landowners house with a gift card to the grocery store in town and let her know the new guys may be taking deer illegally but im not sure what else I can do. I will leave it up to her. We had a nice talk, though.

It was a circus the last 15 minutes of light. Had several doe groups approach each other. Had the usual stare down with foot stomping.

Then a bb with polished off 1 inch antlers arrived and thought he was going to get him some. Got his butt kicked by each adult doe.

It took me a while to get down. I had a group of seven does feed in and park 40 yards away.

I finally spooked them off with the laser pointer but it’s tough to do in thick cover.

According to DeerCast it’s supposed to be “great” tomorrow. We will see.

Actually most states have laws against dogs running deer..get cams up and try to get pics. I have had this problem. Call the game warden. I had two pit bulls for 3yrs . I had them literally chase me to my house and not let me out. Cops got called that day.Well I got them on cams twice. Called DEC and told them to do something because I have grand kids. If something happens to them I would rain Hell down on them and the sheriff's...The DEC made up wanted posters of said dogs and put them all over. Asking to contact DEC officer with info......The dogs disappeared.

By the way, today’s episode of “You’ve Gotta Be Kidding Me”:

Let me preface this with the fact that I haven’t seen anything close to a shooter on my property so far.

I slept in this morning because the lying Weather Channel was calling for 5 hours of rain.

I woke up at 7:00, noticed it hadn’t rained at all and I cursed the Weather Channel staff. I took a quick shower, got dressed and stepped out onto the back deck.

As soon as I looked into the woods I locked eyes with a really nice buck that I’d have shot any day. I’m not sure if he was an 8 or a 10, but he was only about 40 yards away staring right into my soul.

We had a stare down for about a minute and he blew and bolted.

It’s just about right for the sad excuse for a season I’m having thus far.

    I'd have went anyway.
He was looking for love and has probably been in the same spot several times.
Your handsome mug didn't spook him.
Prolly went 100 yards and started a new search.

I actually considered going even with the rain in the forecast but I’m just getting over being sick as a dog for two and a half weeks.

Staying in seemed to be the wise choice. Guess I was wrong.
