I'm set up in a open spot the big bull pushed his cows thru yesterday. I found a small shed on my way in this morning.

My oldest son and oldest daughter are in NJ for the opener. Dad had to work this weekend, GRRRR. Ill be in a tree this Thursday afternoon in NJ!!!

Both of them connected this weekend. Brandon shot his Doe on Saturday. Nikia harvested her Doe this morning. In NJ you need to shoot a Doe prior to being able to shoot a Buck, in September. Meat in the freezer!!!

Two of the guys from elk camp stuck around for the evening sit when we left... They had a griz at 50 yds. We saw scat all week, but after a while I stopped carrying protection to shave weight... In hind sight, probably not a wise move.

For guys hunting elk, know the bears in your area.

Hopefully this doesn't end up being a shed hunt. I'm up to 3 sheds now.

I wouldn't want to mess around with grizzlies around. I did the same thing in Colorado. I carried for 2 days and didn't think anything was around that I would need it for. So stopped carrying it because of weight. Then very next day ran into 2 mountain lions on a trail at 25 yards. Luckily they were way more scared of me. Never did see a bear.

Not real far away here in Idaho I’m thinking the same thing.
I got out this weekend for the first time this season. Zero sign of rut activity in our area. We logged 8 miles Saturday, zero bugles and no rubs at all either. Running a bit late in kicking off this year. Hopefully next weekend they’ll be bugling.
    My Saturday evening view.

Took a little walk after climbing down. Hung my stand for the after and possibly the morning. Trail 10 yds to my east and 20 yds to west. I have a camera at the end of the east where it intersects a fire trail and it’s been active. Tonight is the night. IMG_2088.jpg
