Brother I know what you’re going through.

I’ll pray for your Father in Law, his family and you as well.

There are many things in this life that are more important than hunting deer. This would be one of them.

    But,but,but,... it November.
Kidding of course in light of his situation but, and I'm sure most on here have thought of a wedding, funeral, ect during prime time hunting.
    I sure as hell have!

Never weigh family and life to hunting. No choice is to be made. Give him the comfort he needs and be there with him if the time has come. You'll feel better in the years to come not having to question yourself.

Condolences and God speed to your Father in Law if that moment arrives.

Good point cls. Sickness/death warrants attention.
I will say tho, EVERY one in my family, friends do not to even ask me to be in a wedding, birthday party, or any social gathering during sept, oct,Sept,, and even Dec if I have a tag.
There is no longer disappointment as I made myself clear many years ago.

Sorry to hear @Shocker99. My family went through it in the beginning of October when my FIL passed. I will be praying for you.

I'm torn as to what to do. Its gonna be 75 degrees today but I have the perfect wind (sw at 12 to 15 mph) to move in on that buck I saw on Monday. He moved right before the end of shooting light on Monday. Not real confident with 75 degree temps he will move before dark but they show a small front moving in right after dark....

On Sat it looks like its gonna be 25 degrees in the morning with a marginal wind to go after him. Not sure what to do.

This small slot on the public is about 75 acres. I've hunted it four times over a month. I can't believe I havent seen a single person in there or even trash in the woods. I've seen deer every sit which is a rarity for me.

20211118_072739.jpg 20211118_072712.jpg 20211118_072657.jpg I set up in a blind. Suppose to be raining
Hhhmmmm ..pretty windy so out of that. Area I was in last night. After the 4 a rather large bodied deer with a but smaller one walk through slashing above me. Right at sunset.I was hoping they'd swing down to small clover but no luck. With the beef farmer hunting the pine hard I was hoping it might produce movement here. He had 2 trucks leaving the field last night right at close.
So I have to say the field from my line to road is only a 1/2 mile. He's a fit guy around my age. It's a clear pretty flat walk...I just do not get the trucks...I shake my head every time I see those tail lights going away along the pines...lol

I'll mention this here...in one pic I just posted. If you enlarge it you will see a red sphere. I believe they call them finch feeders. It's metal and a tight mesh. I got to thinking about Jello shots one day...seeing I was introduced to them at a 4th party...OMG so those will sneak up on you!
Speaking of sneaking up, deer jello shots... hhhmmmm. So I made a very firm unflavored dish of clear gelatin that I poured a bottle of scent into. The first one I did was estrus. ..this year was a scrape scent. Once firm I cut it into cubes and dropped the cubes into the cage. Now depending on weather it last a good while. Rain isn't a friend with this. But the other day weeks after I had set that I had a little spike still leaving his scent all over that ball. Appently it held the scent after dissolving. Just an idea for ya....
