Saw 2 good buck this morning but couldn’t get them to react to anything. They only had one thing on their mind

    You got this Vermont!

BB or doe fawn bedded about 20 yards away. Not sure if it was there when I climbed tree and it just got up and moved 10 yds and bedded again or what.

Not good news. Followed blood another 200yds, down to the creek, across and up a very steep hill. Pouring rain, high winds and now at the posted neighbors property line. Weighing my options. Blood was getting very hard to follow cause of the heavy rain. Think I may reach out to a tracking dog if I can get access from the neighbor.

Guy said no to letting me look. Said he doesn't like hunters. Tracker says no go without permission.

Pretty upset right now. Been after that Buck all season, let him walk at 15yds last year. He already had a busted rear leg from being hit by a car. Now one of my arrows is stuck in him.

Not really sure what happened. Half the arrow penetrated in a hard quartering away shot. Using NAP Killzones. Thats dead deer to me, Not 400-500yds of tracking. Only thing I can think of is the arrow went right down the outside of his rib cage and hit the shoulder blade. I dont know, very dejected.

Sorry to hear this but you did all you could. It is the landowner who got in the way, but that's his right. Maybe if he survived you'll get another chance. Don't beat yourself up over it.

Winds are back up to 15 again and snow/rain changing to snow. I pulled out my winter hunting jacket, with LOTS of room to layer also another pair of winter pants. Will go out in the morning because it will be snow not rain and much lower wind speeds. No sense in totally getting burnt out. I've been hunting pretty hard thus far. Beside swirling winds is just no good.
Again, I have NEVER in 25+ yrs here had not a mature doe parade on our place ..really completely vanished but left all the fawns behind. I'm really hoping not all the bow hunters shot doe in Sept. . There certainly weren't a bunch of gun shots then. I'm now wishing for corn in farm fields next year.

Went to a different tree because farmer is going to pick small corn field. I positioned myself as best as I could given the wind. Lets hope he pushes a big buck this direction!

Sorry to hear, you called him to YOUR credit. I had that happen on a buck years ago, on heart side no less. It slid right along ribs under rt under arm and out his brisket. Bled like hell then stopped we searched for two days nothing. I really believe he probably made it. No crows giving a carcass away. You just may see him again even with a one lung hit.

Sorry to hear VT. No way around it that just sucks.

I’m down in out of the tree, done for the day ahead of the storm. skunk city again. My dad was super excited about his encounter with the doe, I got to hear the story a few times, lol

That sucks, my guess is possibly single lung only, doubting you hit liver with that long of a track. Maybe go back to where he left the property tomorrow, walk the property line to see if he doubled back towards the creek or any where on your side that could hold water. Rain doesn't help things with needing water or blood trail.

Not a whole lot else you can do, legally anyway.

Maybe check with conservation about wonton waste laws, maybe they can get you onto the property.
