working till 1500 CT - bad wind for most stands and the rain is supposed to arrive around 1600 CT, but it feels bucky out there. hard to sit at home on 11/10. might take a nap and escout some public for tomorrow...ugh i dont know what to do haha
Well I'm home again and once I got A. J. Off the ceiling, I hit the coffee pot hard! ...Lol also grabbing my first food of the day. Good thing I fast, but the drive home was seriously rough. Crossed the line a couple of times. I never saw a deer at the pine stand and slow walked out through the woods. Biggest rub I've ever seen 70 yards in front of hubbies stand. I also cleaned up a few branches and toppled trees so the guys have better shots. I get to the shooting range and just as I hit the shed a doe pops up 15 yrds and bounds away through the golden rod. Great day just too small for bucks and wrong wind for their movement. This is something I didn't know until the sit. SO. That stand needs either a S/E or a S/W Wind. Walking the road in I got a great idea on where they are entering the property...also got a chance to rub out certain substantial prints. I haven't checked the winds yet or weather in general if good for swamp I'll be sitting there in the morning. Now I need a short nap before dinner....lol
For some reason he walked off then turned around and came my way. 20 yd shot mid body. 2 blade fixed blade zipped through him. He growled and took off into thicker cover. Heard him run 50 yds then slink off. No way in hell I'm going after that bear at night without a firearm. Plus I think I need to let him die for awhile. Thoughts?
I think I'd rather see some blood while its still a bit light out. Center body as in center center? No moan?
Did you hear a loud moaning sound after the crash? Bears often make loud moans at death. If not, give it time. Be prepared for a weak blood trail. All that fur soaks up most of the blood. If you leave him overnight, may be worth going ahead and setting up a tracking dog for the morning.
Death moans at the 40 second mark. Language NSFW. @virginiashadow did you hear this? Proceed with caution if you did not.
We need to know what is meant by center body. Front to back, top to bottom If he hit the "crease", he could be too far forward depending on angle
