Nothing for me today. Saw two spikes , one bedded up 35yds from me. In total I saw a BB, 3 Spikes, a 4pt and a basket 8. I also saw 7 Doe. I missed my opportunity Friday November 5th morning. I had a choice of two stands and I picked the wrong one. Cam showed the Funky 5, which is now a 7 at least, and a main fram 8 just outside his ears both went by my other stand at 5yds at 0830. Oh well, ill be back Thursday to give it another 4 day try. PS Funky 5 is an older pic but better view. Have a question. I dont know much about EHD. The disease went through parts of NJ this year. Does EHD affect bigger, older dear more then younger deer? On the farm I have a ton of 2.5 and 1.5 yr old deer. I have 2 older deer, probably 6-7yrs old and on the down slide. But for the life of me I dont have any 3.5 to 5.5 deer. I run cameras from Spring straight through to now and they just aren't here.

nah, this was a deer-caliber rifle for sure. I could see him up in his stand with my binos. I think he was ranging things, you know, they probably don't use range finders although I know they are not opposed to using scoped rifles.

I did end up seeing a doe, but she was a single mom trying to put her kid through college so she got a pass...

actually she got a pass because she stayed at 50....

Rattled in another buck. Pretty decent, no shot.

Didn't think you did. Seeing all the kids on the thread this weekend just makes me wish mine were that age again.

    Good times!

Thank you all for the congrats, it really does mean something!

Try and do a quick recap. Phone service was very limited, it was fine up in the tree, but on the ground had nothing. So that was reason for lack of communication.

I snuck into a doe bedding I walked back October 25. I walked 3 that day, this was the best one. I came down a creek, deer bed all along the banks in the laurel. I went til I bumped deer. I get almost there and a doe jumps up at 10 yards and runs out the back, but doesn't know what scared her. I see a deer bedded in front of me 20 yards, its a buck. Its on alert. I make a small step and he jumps up and runs with the doe. It was a perfect bump. Didn't smell me, see me, just heard something they didn't like. I let them clear then move 50 yards into bedding and setup on a trail that runs thru the middle of bedding.

As soon as I get set I hear a deer coming from opposite direction the deer ran. Its a fawn. It passes at 5 yards and goes up in bedding. Then about 30 minutes later I see the same buck coming back into bedding about 100 yards out. He's making scrapes and walking the same trail. He gets to 5 yards and I let it rip! I felt I just hit back of lungs. He runs as fast as he can for 100 yards in a big circle and stops. I can barely see him, then he bolts and didn't look like he was walking well. 30 minutes later I get down and check arrow red liver blood and gut smell, not good. I go to last place I saw him and there is a big puddle of blood, then it dries up. I walk another 20 yards and I see him alive. I slowly moved to get a clear view and he is hurting and can't get up. I take a follow up shot and he died in his bed. Now my freezer is filled!

Who else is hunting in the morning?

Tomorrow is going to be the windiest day of the next 3, Tuesday is looking good with winds laying down lare morning.

Wednesday I'll have a pretty good wind direction for multiple choices. There will be a second hunter for sure, and have a plan in place to keep myself in the game regardless.

Rain Wed. night and possibly lingering into Thursday morning. I will be out regardless.

My intent is still to fill 2 buck tags on mature bucks and shoot an antlerless for coworker. 3 deer in 7 days, game on.

    Nice kills fellas!
Shocker, that truly is a world class picture. Needs to be on a magazine cover.

What a horrible day here hunting wise.
I did not see a deer this morning and only 5 does this evening.
I did watch (from my truck)some buddies make a couple deer drives and got to see 2 decent 8's take dirt naps so that was fun.
The weather is unreal for this time of year. 60',dead calm n sunny. Sure has been fun sitting tho.
Sposed to turn cold, wind, snow Wednesday.unless a blizzard sets in, I'm here for 7 more days.

Cls, I'll take a good wind over dead calm anyday! (Unless 8ts real cold out)
