Only thing i'd add, if you have yotes in the area, get it hung up off the ground. Quarter it up and get them hung, get your backstraps, loins and neck meat and any other bits you want (offal, tongue, ribs, whatever). Might have a slight dry/crust on the out side, but won't make much difference.

A couple shanks of paracord is all you need, if you don't have game bags.

You could do a contractor bag, with quarters, in a stream, as an alternative.

I think I'd be better off just dragging it out with my roll-up deer sled I have stashed. I've never quartered an animal before, and the time spent doing that could be spent dragging.

Gut shoot the deer on purpose. Chase after it. Drag it to truck while still alive. Stick it on the heart ❤ when you get to truck. Problem SOLVED!

    Okay. I'll try again tomorrow!
This time I'll be on familiar territory in Amish Country.

Fwiw - deer anatomy is similar to elk (smaller obv) ...Eichler makes it look easy, but my elk last year, I skinned the quarters and probably had it broken down inside of 90 minutes and in game bags (with a replacement of a havalon blade)...
