This semi sickness is proving eventful. Now dealing with constant upper stomach pain. I will endure until dark and launch operation enema if necessary. Anything it takes to kill.

Today was kind of a let down, coldest morning had everything on the ground and shrubs glistening in a white frost. The kind of morning where that first buck steps out and you can see his breath puff out. Then nothing happened, for a long time

Actually had to check my messages to see what the hunter yesterday had said when he sat there. Said a lone fork came out about 7:30 and worked a scrape and nothing else. Until he climbed down and every doe on the property blew at him

7:30 came and went, then 8, then 8:30 and couldn't help but think about the stakd I sat in yesterday or the ground blind below the pond. Then heard the first squirrel of the morning, which when I looked stepped from under the limb and turned into a 3 pointer working a new scrape. Had to wait for him to get out in front of me to get camera out.

Better than nithing, let the party start. That was 8:48, nearly 2 hours go by when I catch movement to my left and put steps a small 5pt. Was 10:42 and all the frost had already melted off.

At 11:00 I seen the legs and bidy if a deer coming in from straight ahead behind a blow down. Wind swirled and it turned around and left. Assuming it was a doe as they seem to be a vut browner right now where the bucks more tan/grey. No clue what if anything was behind.

Then at 11:08 the last deer of the morning came out and proceeded to sniff my urine at the base of my stand

    20211104_110754.jpg

Then near disaster struck at 11:33'ish. My belly gurgled, then gurgled again and I went instant pucker. Climbed down as fast as I could and set up the port-a-potty

No more whiskey night before hunting.... ever

Well, I’m back up in a different spot. It’s not shaping up to be a very good day.

I was getting ready to head out and put my new backpack on. I went to buckle it and it was soaking wet. The water bladder had leaked.

I just ripped the bladder out, tossed a water bottle n it, threw the wet thing on my back and headed out.

Not real high hopes tonight. Running on very little sleep, wind changed and is totally wrong. Forgot a bunch of crap.

    Need an attitude adjustment.

If that's the worst thing that happened to you today, I'd say you've had a good day.

I can smell that musty pee soaked rutting buck smell every so often. Like he's bedded just above me some place and the wind is blowing the smell down to me.

Just saw a shooter buck chasing doe. Closest he got was 100 yards. Chased her back away from me - from where they came from.

I swear almost every hunt this year i have forgotten something. The first morning hunt it was my BOW!! So it Has gotten better than that since then but its always something. Whether my binos/rangefinder, or my kneepads (saddle hunting), or my wind checker/ milkweed. Always something this year. Effing scatterbrained. Idk whats wrong with me

Anyway im out (no kneepads) and i made more noise getting back here than anyone should in a whole season. Had to make so much noise to set up. I kept telling myself to abort mission especially after bumping doe and big buck on way in. Pretty sure every deer in 2 mile radius knows im here. So…. No preperation, bad judgement, zero confidence, horrible odds. You know what that is??? Exactly. Recipe to Slay a Giant!!!

No problem bud. It could be worse. I could have to go back to work when this trip is over but I’m retired so I’m just going on another hunting trip instead.
